Most times when people say they cannot find components they are
actually there but marked different to what the manual suggests. I
suspect your 82pF caps are actually marked 820. A capacitance meter
is very handy in sorting out these problems, especially when the
markings are very small in the first place.

I am currently building my second K2, and like last time did not do
an inventory before I started. About two thirds of the way through
the build I have not found a single component missing. Elecraft's
kitting seems to be 100% accurate.

I found a good solid metal case at Lowes for about 25 blucks. Not water proof,
but it can take a knocking around in the baggage compartment of a plane. I
also picked up an Anvil case at Dayton two years agoor 20 bucks.

[Elecraft] K2 C71 C174

2006-09-10 Thread Treat Hull
Hi

Having successfully build a K1 and a KX1, I have finally bitten the bullet
and gone for the fully monty. My new K2 is going together fine, except I
can't find the 82 pf capacitors C71 C174. I know Elecraft will send them
to me, but I would like to keep up my momentum. I live in the greater
Toronto area, I have several good parts stores within ten minutes where I
can purchase replacement capacitors. My question for the list is: are there
any special requirements or specification, beyond capacitance, which I
should be on the lookout for?

Thanks in advance,

Treat Hull

C71 C174 are NPO capacitors. I think the NPO stands for Negative
Positive Zero which means that they are not temperature sensitive.
