I use a USB to RS232 8 port multi-port adapter. My K3 P3 share one
port assignment via a wye cable. I have used this setup for about 2
years.
K3/P3 should not use a Y adapter - the design is for series connection.
Computer connects to the RS-232 input of P3, P3 RS-232 output connects
to the RS-232 input of K3 using the cable supplied with the P3. Set
both units and the computer (logging software) for 38,400 bps for best
results.
There is a significant amount of K3 - P3 traffic on the RS-232 link
that the computer has no need to see and will cause collisions/issues
with logging software that does not understand the undocumented data.

Do others see continual traffic from K3/P3 connections.
I now notice continual flashing green yellow port traffic lights related to
my K3/P3 connections. Before reinstalling all software and devices on a failed Win7
installation, I remember less frequent flashing. I'm thinking collisions on the shared port.
First thing that comes to mind is a change in the installation but I can't find
it.
