As recommended by Gary / Elecraft I replaced all 4 Encoders Z1 to Z4. After 2 contests and more than 1000 QSOs I'm glad again with my K3. Thanks to all that answered direct. I also purchased those four encoders, but Gary or someone else at Elecraft suggested that exercising the four controls to the left of the main VFO knob (rotating them, pressing them repeatedly) sometimes clears the problem. I played with those four controls for about 10 minutes, and then everything suddenly started working again. That was about a year ago, and there has been no trace of trouble ever since. I still have the four encoders, but haven't installed them. It doesn't look like a fun job. Try removing and reseating the front panel assembly. Sometimes there are problems with oxidation or dirt on the connectors.
