Re: [Elecraft] K4 + Winlink
The switching speed should really be under 20mS to work reliably with an Amtor modem. Pactor (as used by Winlink) is less critical. Computer based transceivers can have slow change over due to long latency times. My K3 and my Icom IC-7300 are fine on Amtor (and Pactor). I have a KX3 but haven’t tried it. The ARRL review T/R speeds of the IC-7300 are 15/14mS, the KX3 is 44/30mS. The K3 with sync data mode was 22mS in the April 2008 QST review. No idea about the K4 though. 73 Dave G4AON -- Sent from my iPhone SE __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html Message delivered to arch...@mail-archive.com
[Elecraft] K4 + Winlink
Is This A K4 Problem?? THIS was on the FSARC email server today... "From Steve Waterman, the WL2K guru, that fully software-defined radios, like Flex, have had handshaking timing issues with VARA, and with SCS Pactor modems. Flex and SCS have firmware upgrades to improve handshaking speed when using Pactor. Improvements to the VARA software are imminent, if not already released. " 73, steve Wb3LGC I don't have problems with my KX3 (zero delay), why would the K4, just asking... __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html Message delivered to arch...@mail-archive.com
