[Elecraft] KX3 and HDSDR with omni rig ... question

2015-08-09 Thread Schumacher, Paul
I am a newbie with HDSDR and omni ... I got the panaramic display working but
the received signals
are displayed 12 kHz off of where they should be. The frequency of the LO and
KX3 tuning are displayed
in the correct position on the display.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Thanks,

Paul, K0ZYV

Re: [Elecraft] KX3 and HDSDR

2013-03-27 Thread kc2egl
Today (3/26/2013) K3WWP and I did some extensive testing and checking on how
to get HDSDR to cooperate with my laptop. After plenty of frustration we
accidentally found that the external sound card I was trying to use (has a
line in jack) loaded a extra soundcard driver that works with the mic input
on the laptop. Connect the KX3 Serial to USB converter cable to the
accessory 1 on your KX3 and connect a 1/8-1/8 cable (adapter needed on the
KX3 end) from your laptop mic in to the I/Q on your KX3. This should help
your rig and laptop communicate with each other.

I hope this helps.

Yes that is possible with VE3NEA's free OmniRig program.

2013-03-23 Thread Mark Newbold
It doesn't work very well for me, on Windows 8. Omnirig talks to the KX3, no problem, as verified by
running the Omnirig client. But HSDR stops talking to Omnirig after a few minutes. Nothing but a
reboot fixes it. Makes HSDR unusable for me.

2013-03-23 Thread David G4DMP
Hello Reggie -

Not the waterfall, but position your mouse on the spectral display (the
display below the waterfall). A red line will appear. Move your mouse
left or right to the frequency you require and left click. You should
find that the KX3 changes to that frequency.

I have HDSDR and Omnirig set up according to the PDF.

I hope that helps.

Can you give me some ideas of how you are doing it please?

Jim,
I was able to make it work. I have an E-MU-0202 card capable of
192KHz, but I only use 48KHz as I like the definition better.

I was unaware of any internal laptop sound cards that will run at
greater than 48 KHz. If your sound card input is stereo, I suggest you
try 48KHz and see what happens.

If you are speaking about the stereo *input* configuration of a standard
laptop chip (realtek or other), please explain with more details, I am

What I am looking for is the one that Eric showed me working KX3/NaP3 while

More expensive, a CREATIVE SB X-FI SURROUND 5.1 PRO USB + mods, as described
here :

Meantime I'm using the line input of my Zoom recorder, that's all I have on
hand on this island.

Also no movement on phase pictures.

What cables?

I tried to adjust amplitude/phase on the laptop to eliminate the other
sideband. No effect. Perhaps teh card does not work in stereo although the
card setup indicated that it is capable. Then moved to desktop. The
adjustments worked. However, there is lots of noise +-5Khz from the center.

Is there a good reason to work many KHz from the center?

The cable may be stereo, but mic input for the laptop may be mono. At
least that's the case with many laptops. If so, you'll have to get an
outboard sound module.
