The specs give a current of 1 to 2 A at 10 W. That varies based on the supply
voltage, so you need to pick a voltage to get a good answer for that.

Typically 1.2 to 1.5 amps, varying somewhat with supply voltage and load
impedance.

50 Hz primary audio filter, 30 Hz audio-peaking filter (APF). These can be
controlled independently. The bandpass can be widened up to about 4 kHz, as
well as shifted. The KX2 also has DSP-based noise blanking, auto-notch, and
noise reduction.

Re: [Elecraft] KX2 Questions

2021-04-13 Thread Bill Lederer
I have the kx2 and absolutely love it.

1. What is the approximate current draw for the KX2 on transmit at 5 watts
CW?2.

At 10 watts, it is 1.87 amps. At 5 watts, it is 1.49 amps. Receive is about
0.15 amps.

2. What is the narrowest receiver filter width on CW?

It goes down to 0.05 kHz.

2021-04-13 Thread djchase
I am a long time CW operator, but new to this group.  I am considering
purchasing a KX2, but I have been unable to find answers to these two
questions:1.  What is the approximate current draw for the KX2 on transmit at 5

Re: [Elecraft] Kx2 questions

2016-07-21 Thread Don Wilhelm

Jim,

Re: Data modes ---
Yes, all you need is the cables. As far as connecting the logic and RF
grounds together, you may find some improvement by turning MIC BTN in
the menu to OFF.

Many have been doing that with the KX3, and the KX2 should behave similarly.

If you want the 'best of both worlds', then you will build special
cables that use a 4 conductor jack to separate the grounds.

schematics it looks like all I need is a couple of 1/8" stereo Male-to-Male cables. No
real question about the receive side. Looks like the transmit side (KX2 mic input) is a
4-conductor jack with separate signal & logic grounds. Will it work with a 3-conductor
cable which would seem to short the grounds together?

A lot of people like the Yamaha CM-500. I’ve posted some hints about connecting
it to the KX3. These probably hold for the KX2.

The same setup should work for any headset with an electret mic, including some
