Hello all, I know it's early, but planning makes perfect. I'm thinking about putting together a nice hike and radio trip to the White Mountains of NH. I plan to hike the Presidential Range. I have hiked this route before with my daughter and it's breath-taking! I plan to hike the AMC Hut System so you won't need a heavy pack. The AMC Huts are a days hike apart and serve meals. All meals except lunch will be included in the price. If you want lunch, the huts do sell lunches, but I'm usually hiking around lunch time.
For around $50 a day you get breakfast, dinner and a bunk bed with wool blankets to sleep. You will also NEVER forget the gorgeous views. I'm planning on a trip as follows: Saturday, July 8th: Travel day to Highland Center at Crawford Notch Sunday, July 9th : Hike to Mizpah Spring Hut Monday, July 10th : Hike to Lakes of the Clouds Hut Tuesday,July 11th : Stay at Lakes - Hike up to Mount Washington etc. Wednesday July 12 : Grab Cog Railway down mountain Stay Highland Ctr. Thursday July 13th: Head home The Highland Center costs more and I can post this later when I know who will be coming along. I posted this now because the huts are neat and they fill up fast! Nothing to set in stone and if some want different dates etc , let me know.
