Re: [Elecraft] Win4K3Suite ?

2019-03-18 Thread M. George
Bob, I just saw your question about Win4K3Suite. I can add my
recommendation to the others that have responding. I highly recommend it.
I even took the time and made a very detailed YouTube video that you might
be interested in. It focuses on the capability of sharing the K3/S CAT
feed across multiple software apps and hardware. Here is the link
if you want to take a look...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zbf7BPfcj4U

I pack a lot of detail in the video... you can jump forward 10 seconds or
back 10 seconds by using the 'J' and 'L' keys on your keyboard or 3 second
jumps using the arrow keys. This video will give you some good context of
how you can leverage the 'virtual' CAT feeds. I love this solution because
it's 100% transparent to the software or hardware you are using. In all
cases, the software or hardware thinks it's directly connected to your K3/S.

Re: [Elecraft] Win4K3Suite ?

2019-03-17 Thread Barry
I'm using Win4K3 with my K3s. It works like a champ. I have the IF out
driving the RSP2 for spectrum and I have LP-Pan installed so I can drive
my USB sound card for the those things like CW Skimmer. If you do this,
I suggest that you buffer the IF output with an ~3-6db amplifier before
going to the splitter. If you don't split the IF out, the RSP2 works
fine.

2019-03-17 Thread Charles Tropp
Hi Bob,

I just started using Win4K3 last August when I upgraded to a new computer
system. It also runs DXLab, N1MM, SKCCLoger, CW Skimmer and WJST. It
performs flawlessly. Just remember to turn on your K3 before you run
Win4K3. I love the macro feature since it is so easy to write, store and
change them. It has a nice sync with ClubLog although I prefer
SpotCollector. The K3 memories are right up front and easy to access. I
don't use too many of the controls as I got the program mainly for the
virtual ports. I am sure you will enjoy the program.

[Elecraft] Win4K3Suite YouTube Video - Detailed - Demo on creating and using Virtual K3/S CAT Ports with Software and Hardware

2018-09-14 Thread M. George
For those that want a highly detailed overview and demo of CAT sharing
across software and hardware with Win4K3Suite, I just posted a 57 minute
YouTube video. Here is a
link to the diagram

used in the video. My only connection to Win4K3Suite is that I'm a happy
customer and continue to be impressed by how stable it is and how well it
facilitates the creation of virtual K3 CAT feeds which are transparent to
software and hardware you are using in your shack.

The video is very detailed and if you find this interesting, you might find
it useful to jump back 10 seconds and forward 10 seconds at a time using
the 'J' and 'L' keys while you are watching from youtube.com.

I just purchased Win4K3Suite for my KX3. I would like to setup the spectrum
scope, but until I can get my main pc out of storage as we wait for our new

I would appreciate any suggestions that would help me get the correct usb

[Elecraft] Win4K3Suite + SDRPlay: Panadapter for the KX2 and KX3!

2016-11-11 Thread Tom
Hello,
There is a new release of Win4K3Suite that allows integration of the SDRPlay
RSP (Radio Spectrum Processor) with Win4K3 and the Elecraft KX2 and KX3. This
new solution provides a easy to use 1.8MHz bandwidth Panadapter with no need
for a sound card. Please note that you WILL need a transmit receive switch such
as the MFJ 1708 to prevent damage to the SDRPlay. To see the KX2 in operation
with the SDRPlay please check out the latest Win4K3Suite video on youtube:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fxJq-aQivGk
Win4K3Suite turns your KX2 and KX3 into a powerful base station allowing the
use of the KXPA100 and even the KPA500 and KAT500. There is full support for
band switching without the need for additional hardware.
In addition, Win4K3Suite is a trouble free alternative to port sharing
applications with it's built in virtual serial port connections. You can
connect any software or hardware that supports CAT commands for the K3, K3S,
KX3 and KX2. It's like having 5 radios available at any time.
You can check out some reviews of the port sharing and other aspects here:
http://www.eham.net/reviews/detail/11214 and download the software from
va2fsq.com
There is a free full featured 30 day trial. Please contact me if you have
tried this in the past and would like an extension on your trial.
Thanks very much for your continued support.

Re: [Elecraft] Win4K3Suite now supports the SDRPlay SDR as a panadapter allowing 1.8MHz bandwidth!

2016-06-19 Thread ab2tc
Hi Tom,

Cute video, but I would like to see a connection diagram. The K3's IF output
has to connect to some hardware, presumably with a USB connector at the
other end? Is that the third party hardware alluded to? SDRs like that are
all over the spectrum in price so the claim that this is the lowest cost
panadapter solution is a little loose. Could I use my Afedri? I bought one a
while ago and it was a fun toy for a while, but is now collecting dust. What
do you mean by "requiring only refinement of the global offset"? Does it not
do all the adjustments for modes and filter passband settings like the
LP-Bridge/NaP3 combination does?

[Elecraft] Win4K3Suite now supports the SDRPlay SDR as a panadapter allowing 1.8MHz bandwidth!

2016-06-18 Thread Tom
Hello,
Win4K3Suite now supports the SDRPlay software defined radio when used as a
panadapter. This device provides the lowest cost panadapter available for the
K3 and K3S with an IF output and allows useable bandwidths up to 1.8MHz! No
sound card is required.
Unlike competing panadapter software for the K3, Win4K3Suite is truly plug and
play requiring only refinement of the global offset. All bands and modes work
without any configuration required.
This release of Win4K3Suite also now supports connection to a K3/0 allowing
remote control of your radio using the Elecraft K3/0 just like a K3.
There are addition enhancements such as a doubling of the waterfall resolution,
support for the 15W output of the KX3 and a few bug fixes.
Win4K3Suite is the most comprehensive control program available for the
Elecraft radios and interfaces to all third party hardware and software with
minimum fuss.
You can see Win4K3Suite in operation here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=htVlc9x0IoU
A free full functioning download is available at va2fsq.com

[Elecraft] Win4K3Suite - Next release will support the SDRPlay as a panadapter

2016-05-30 Thread tomb18
Hi Just a note...the next release due in June will support the SDRPLAY dongle
as a Panadapter. The SDRPLAY will offer a maximum spectral bandwidth of 1.8
Mhz, unlike the 192 kHz displays of other Panadapters. In addition, there will
be no need for a sound card with this device. Look for it later in June after I
return from my annual fishing trip.Back on June 8th so support for  the next
week will be closed.73 Tomva2fsq.com

[Elecraft] Win4K3Suite temporarily down

2016-04-29 Thread Tom
Hello,
Murphy’s law has struck. The new release does not work correctly but the issue
has been identified. The replacement will be up later this evening.
Sorry for the inconvenience.

[Elecraft] Win4K3Suite - In Depth Video

2016-03-19 Thread Doug Ellmore
If you don't use Win4K3Suite with your K3, KX3, or K3s, you might want to
check out this new video on the features of the product:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=htVlc9x0IoU&feature=youtu.be

Even if you have been using Win4K3Suite, you might discover some features
you have not been utilizing that you might find helpful in taking advantage
of your station.

Tom/*VA2FSQ *has added some new great features to support macros and
function keys, including WinKeyer support. I can attest to the reduced
latency in CW mode that helps me time breaking the pileups more effectively
with the integration with my WinKeyer.

Tom continues to add features and functionality. I currently use
Win4K3Suite during contests with N1MM+ including FLDIGI. It is also very
compatible with a number of logs. I use Ham Radio Deluxe log, only for the
log and rotor control.

I use the Win4K3 suite with both my K3 and KX3. I run it on my Dell XPS12
and the KX3 when I am QRV.

All of our FD stations run Win4K3 with our KX3s. When we give tours to the
public and press, they get a visualization of the bands.

[Elecraft] Win4K3Suite for the K3 and KX3 Does It Again!

2015-02-05 Thread Doug Ellmore
Wow! Tom has released some great new features with the last few of releases
of Win4K3 Suite. Just released version: Version 1.734 -
http://va2fsq.com/?page_id=379

We've been chasing K1N and trying to work that split and find where the op
last worked.

With the new Win4K3 Suite integration with CW Skimmer, you can click on the
call signs list in CW Skimmer and have VFO B QSY to the call sign of the op
being worked by K1N. This could just be the ticket to help you snag that
CW contact!

Also, the Scope window now has macros at the base of the scope window. For
example I am using 10 macros as follows:

1: Spot - SWT42;
2: A>B  -  SWT13;
3: A/B - SWT11;
4: Split - SWH13;
5: UP 5 for VFO B - UPB7;

next row:
6: M1 - SWT21;
7: M2 - SWT31;
8: M3 - SWT35;
9: M4  - SWT39;
10: DN 5 --- DNB7;

P.S. Paul Hannington has released SkimCC11. The link for SkimCC11 is
working again now.

http://www.paulhannington.com/g6uvs/SkimCC11.zip

SkimCC11 allows HRD to see the spots in from CW skimmer.

I am using it with wintelnetx: http://www.k1ttt.net/software.html#wintelnetx
to aggregate spots from multiple sources. SkimCC11 sits between Cw Skimmer
and WinTelnetX to reformat the spots so that apps like HRD Logger can read
the spots.

73 and Good DX,

And there you go! Proof he answers fast. Hihi. With his customer service
and great product I am surprised his software is not on the Elecraft

[Elecraft] Win4K3Suite Feedback

2014-10-24 Thread Doug Ellmore
Last night I installed a new release of Win4K3 Suite (http://va2fsq.com/).
I installed two separate setups. One interfacing a K3 (interfaced to a i7
16GB RAM Laptop running Win8.1 Pro) and the other a KX3 (interface to a AMD
64 with 4GB desktop running Win8.1). Both radios had the most recent
Elecraft updates. An example desktop image is at my web site:

http://ellmore.net/na1dx/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/desktop-na1dx-10-23-2014-example.jpg

To support additional virtual com port management, I used the recommended
release of com0com:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/com0com/files/com0com/2.2.2.0/

On the desktop I have HRD Log and HRD Rotor, Win4K3 Suite, and NAP3 4.x
running.

For sometime I have been using with my K3 and KX3 with a number of software
products for dxing and contesting:

   - Ham Radio Deluxe 6.x - dxing and log management
   - LPBridge - for virtual com ports
   - NAP3 v4.x - for Panadapter, with Spots displayed and conversational
cw/psk/rtty
   - N1MM for contesting
   - CW Skimmer - for finding and work DX and Contest stations
   - FLDIGI - contest grade digital mode with N1mm
   - WinTelnetX (to handle multi dx clusters)

Win4KSuite replaces HRD's radio controller and server HamRadioDeluxe
application, so you can just run HRD's HRDLogbook application, which
interfaced really well with Win4K3Suite.

QSY from spots from HRD Log or the ClubLog spots from within Win4K3 Suite
were quick. I was able to test the Win4K3 scope and NAP3 v4.x at the same
time. I use an LP Pan interface in my K3 configuration. I use Steinberg
UR22 USB 192kz external sound cards with ASIO drivers for both my K3 and
KX3 home QTH configurations. When operating remote at the beach, etc., I
usually just use the built in sound card of my laptop with my KX3. I
really like the radio interface controls with the windows of Win4K3 Suite.
You can have a big radio window or a smaller radio window with multiple
tabs to access all the controls. The controls are intuitive and well laid
out.

Tom Blahovici is the creator. I have to give him a "high five" for the
product at this point. I like the SDR features accessible via the
software, but I also like radios with knobs! Tom's software and Elecraft
give us good integration both.

My next step is do start testing Win4K3 Suite this weekend with N1MM+.
Over the next few weeks, I will get into testing with CW Skimmer, FLdigi
and WinTelnet X.

[Elecraft] Win4K3Suite: Now allows changing of Terminal Mode Threshold and text decode parameters.

2014-09-13 Thread tomb18
Win4K3Suite - version 1.662 is now released. This version has a number of
enhancements which follow from user feedback.

New:
- It is now possible to adjust the Threshold and parameters such as CW speed in
the K3 Terminal Window. This unique capability is not available in the K3
Utility or in any other software package. This allows one to change the point
at which decoding begins, helping eliminate false decoding of CW, PSK and FSK
signals. This also allows proper remote use of the K3 text decoding with
something like TeamViewer. Please note that there is currently no way to do
this with the KX3.

-The KX3 and LPPAN panadapter has had a number of enhancements:
1) Split screen is now available allowing you to adjust the relative size of
the spectrum vs waterfall
2) Waterfall speed control has now been added
3) The 8kHz IF shift of the KX3 is now supported.

Other enhancements include:
Mouse wheel support for VFOA and VFOB allowing the change of individual digits
in the frequency display.
Rework of the Tune button such that if a tuner is in BYPASS then pressing Tune
will send a carrier.
Support for CW mode of WinWarbler.

Win4K3Suite is the most comprehensive control program for the K3, KX3, KPA500
and KAT500. It interoperates with most third party logging and contest programs.
A free 30 day trial is available at va2fsq.com. Purchase entitles you to free
updates for as long as the K3 and KX3 exist.
You can see the program in action at

[Elecraft] Win4K3Suite version 1.63 now includes CW - FSK - PSK Terminal

2014-07-26 Thread tomb18
HelloThe latest release of Win4K3Suite (v1.63) now includes a CW - FSK-D PSK-D
terminal that uses the built in decoding of the K3 and KX3 for these modes.
This new terminal offers 16 messages per file, custom layouts, QRZ support for
call signs and more.
You can see a screen shot at http://va2fsq.com/?page_id=612
This terminal can also be used in conjunction with the SVGA or as a replacement
to its text mode to allow you to use only one keyboard.

Also new in this release, a reworked Spotting function that allows Auto
spotting or manual spotting by right clicking on the Spot button as well as
numerous other improvements.

If you haven't tried the software yet, please give it a try. It inter-operates
seamlessly with almost all third party logging, control, contesting and third
party panadapter programs allowing you to keep your favorite logging
application but have a comprehensive control program that has no equivalent.

You can download a fully functioning 30 day trial at
http://va2fsq.com/?page_id=379

You can also see it in action at

[Elecraft] Win4K3Suite and Club Log

2014-03-22 Thread tomb18
Hi,I'm a big fan of Club Log so I have decided to include a spotting function
using Club Log filtering in the next release of Win4K3Suite.
Unlike the web interface of Club Log, the spots are delivered in real time to
the application and filtered according to your DXCC profile in your Club Log
account. You can filter by band, and New DXCC's, worked, confirmed and verified.
The software is in beta and would appreciate any comments or suggestions for
the future release. You can download it at:

http://va2fsq.com/?page_id=987

When the beta is complete, In next release version of Win4K3Suite will have
this integrated in the application and will allow point and click QSY's to the
spots as well as showing the spots on the spectrum peaks or waterfall in the
panadapters.
For any comments or suggestions, please contact me off list.

Hi,

New in this release: An option for a Mini-K3 and KX3 Control Window. The new

[Elecraft] Win4K3Suite V1.45 now supports the KXPA100 for the KX3, LP-PAN, the SotfRock II Lite and the MicroHam Router

2014-02-20 Thread tomb18
Version 1.45 of Win4K3Suite now has a number of major additions and
improvements.
Support is now available for the KXPA100 for the KX3, integrating the amplifier
directly into the user interface with Temperature, Power and SWR displays. Both
the KXAT100 and KAT500 are supported with the KX3.

The KX3 spectrum scope has been improved as well. ASIO driver support has been
dropped due to some cases of performance issues with the spectrum. The use of
Windows WDM drivers has eliminated this problem.

Win4K3Suite now also supports TelePosts LP-PAN and the SoftRock II Lite
Panadapters.

Support for the MicroHam router is also now available. The following devices
are now supported.

MK2R and MK2R+
MicroKeyer II
DigiKeyer II
Station Master and Station Master Deluxe.

Please make sure you have updated your MicroHam router software to the current
release. Much thanks goes to Joe Subich who made this possible.

This version of Win4K3Suite now operates in native 64bit mode eliminating a
number of issues with third party video capture devices. It will of course also
operate in 32 bit mode. Users of 32 bit operating system please contact me off
list for specific instructions.

Due to the migration to 64 bits, there is a new 30 day trial. Register users
will also have to re-enter their license codes.

The first independent review of Win4K3Suite is located here:

Murphys law hit. If you downloaded the software before 9:00 EDT today, there
was a bug that will affect North Americans on July 1st. It has already hit

remove it.
If you have downloaded the version before this, please uninstall and
download the version on the web now. It is correct.

Sorry for the issue.
System requirements will now be listed on the web as well.
