[Elecraft] Cloning K3 settings

2014-09-11 Thread Fabio IZ4AFW / NZ1W

Hi guys,
I'm trying to clone the K3 configuration to another (similar, but
not identical) K3.

Is there an automatic way to do this?
I've tried the K3 Utility, but doing a Save/Restore K3 config seems to
be a (potentially) dangerous way to do that, as the configuration file
includes the calibration settings.
The values I am interested in are the general parameters of the menu,
such as AGC settings, TX/RX equalizers, mic settings, macros, and so on.

Maybe K3-EZ can do that? Is that program still around?

Thanks!
Ciao
Fabio

The configuration save file contains only what is cleared by Parameter
Initialization (EEINIT), which is a small part of the radio's total state.

KX3 Utility Help describes in general terms what is and is not included in this
file.

 Hi David:

Well... by cloning, I assume you mean frequency memories, message memories
and macros. That's an interesting question, since while you can save and
preserve all the settings of a particular KX3 via the Utility, I think there
are some rig-specific settings which are extremely important.

Perhaps the software gurus will add a cloning option to the utility...
unless it's already there and I don't know about it. :)

Re: [Elecraft] Cloning KX3.

2013-09-10 Thread vk3fmpw

From VK3FMPW.

Thank you all for your reply's. I have already backed up the memory of this
KX3. My main problem is that No matter how many times I try to call CQ I never
get an answer and I can not hear ANYONE either having a network or calling CQ
all I am hearing is CW especially when I change frequencies or modes.

Thank you for your again for your reply's.

Dave.

I don't know for sure, but if the kx3 is like the k3...the utility program sees
the radio serial number and will only re write to the same serial
