[Elecraft] elecraf/K4TMC??
I'm sure by now everyone has seen the elecraf spam that got posted to the reflector. I've got a filter set up in my e-mail client to filter out k4...@aol.com Even after all of this, every time I connect to my server to retrieve mail another copy shows up in my spam filter. I'm up to 50+ today alone. Is anyone else seeing this? Do I need to do anything else to get rid of this or do I possibly have some malware lurking on my computer? And no, I didn't click on the link in the spam e-mail. Gary and all Elecraft users, I apologize for any spam that has been generated from my email account. I have taken measures to hopefully preclude this from happening again. Somehow, after over 10 years with the current account, my email account was compromised. Not sure how it happened, but I started getting hundreds of failed email notes in my spam filter. If you analyze the header from one of the e-mails, you may discover that it didn't really come from your e-mail account or your machine. It's common for malware to infect a computer and read the 'address book' in that machine. If the user of that machine had ever received or downloaded an e-mail from you, your address is in the list. The malware grabs an address at random as the sender. In this case it was your e-mail address. It's happened to me once in the past 15 years, but once was enough. Still, there's no sure solution. Oh...I know how this happens. K4TMC is a good guy...I'm sure someone cracked his e-mail account.
