Yes I figured thats what was going on.. its a bit of an annoyance and would be great to get a clear solution on it, but performance is ok despite the incorrect display switch on the K3/0. If anyone resolves this please send a shout out to the reflector with the correction steps. glad to hear you are up and running! After more testing, I see that, as stated previously, this is a display problem. I am having this problem right now. Front panel PTT activation switches the mode to cw from USB on the local radio only. Front panel XMIT button does not do this. As far as I have been able to tell, this is an issue of the data display on the K3/0. I have been using the system heavily in all modes of late, in fact I have been remoting K6LRG as my primary station. The K3 side is fine. it does not switch to cw mode. the symptop is that it just displays the wrong mode on tx on the K3/0 during ssb ptt. my K3 ssb performance is unaffected by this and the actual functional performance of the k3/0 is fine.. I have not been able to figure out why it does this yet.. some data bit getting scrambled in the rrc.. or whatever, but functionally all works ok. There are a number of different RRC firmwares out there and of course K3 K3/0 firmware updates.. etc. perhaps there is a magic combo that makes it stop.. have not found it yet though. would be nice to know... Thanks for the info, Chris. In this case, I think it is actually switching to cw mode since it won't modulate with a mike that works just fine on the k3. Jim.. This was not exactly the issue, but it was enough to point me in the right direction. This was an issue with N1MM, not the mode control but also a combination of N1MM, the Remote Rig and the keying methodology leveraging the remote rigs virtual com ports.. settings that appear to stick with the remote rig untill its restarted despite shutting down N1MM so a little tricky to work through. Anyway the short of the story is that it was an N1MM/Remote rig combination issue. I think we will be able to figure it out from here. thanks to all who responded, and thanks Jim for offering the clue.
