[Elementary-dev-community] Contributor Meeting 15

2012-05-05 Thread David Gomes
Hello there everyone,

Contributor Meeting 15 is now finished. From the points the
agendahttp://tiny.cc/contributor-meeting-15,
only a few were discussed, since not many developers were present (about 4).

From the decisions made, the ones that stand out follow:

   - Start an elementary-translators team, to be done by me after Launchpad
   Team tells gotwig if making the team requires some special permissions;
   - Contractor will not be included in Terminal. Feature Freeze is over
   and we need to focus on bugs. Besides, Contractor for Terminal isn't of a
   very critical importance;
   - NavigationArrows will not be added to Granite for now. It may be added
   in the future, if other apps request it, then it will be considered.

It was a complicated meeting, I know we're all very busy, some more busy
then others, but since many people didn't manage to make it to the meeting,
please reply to this email with your opinion on the agenda items when you
can.

Cheers!

Hey guys,

Sorry I didn't make it.

Regarding #6: it would be a good idea for Luna+1. I hope we'll get decent
llvmpipe-based software rendering fallback by then; current ubuntu's
softpipe is a bloody mess, even in the LTS.

On #11: the function of navigation arrows is not obvious at a glance, in
particular, I can't see how they're different from forward/back. But this
is a Luna+1 item anyway, I don't think it's a good idea to discuss it until
we release Luna.

In fact, there's a lot of Luna+1 items in every contributor meeting...
deciding them now, before we get a full overview of the idea pool we have
for Luna+1, might be wrong. And they distract us from a much more urgent
goal - Luna. Why don't we put these items and let them pile up in some
other doc till we release Luna, get rid of technological debt and then get
to L+1 planning?

What is happening on the Marlin front? It's still horribly unstable. Are
those bugs going to be squashed for Luna? Is the team forking Marlin or
continuing the project? Will the old PPA still be in use?
