Re: [Elementary-dev-community] New switchboard plugin

2013-09-13 Thread Albert Palacios
Hi

Thanks for your interest. I don't know what is the appropiate way to
design it with the elementary team, and to discuss if one application
should be default or not, but both would be great.

If not, I will try to upload it into the Ubuntu store because an easy (and
free) disks formatting tool is missing right now.

 Hi,

I am working on a new switchboard plugin, and I would like to know your
opinion on design, programming, bugs ...

The project goal is to easily view drives information and format
partitions. I got the inspiration from:

 http://dahenson.deviantart.com/art/Disk-Usage-Plug-for-elementary-OS-328292638

after trying to teach a non technical friend how to use gparted.

You can get the source from:

 bzr branch lp:~optimisme/+junk/switchboard-drives

My next goal is to add drive formatting (right now it is just an empty
 dialog)

Attached to this email there is a screenshot of the plugin working.

 Thanks,

 Albert

Doesn't Ubuntu ship GNOME Disk Utility aka Palimpsest by default? I'm sure
it used to.

IMHO the plug looks good already and it'd be nice to have in the default
installation.

wow, impresive, I like it a lot. The only think I didn't like it is
the centered text. Also, it need translations (show the drives as are
shown in files for consistency) and icons for the drive type.
