[Orgmode] Adding path and file name into file links
When adding a file link, is there some way of searching for the file you want to add while in the file link and then inserting the path and file name of the found file rather than having to type the whole thing in. Or alternatively, can you search for the file with dired and then copy and paste the path from dired into the file link. If you want to create a list of links from dired and copy this list to the kill-ring, maybe you can use something like this as well: (defun my-copy-dired-files-in-kill-ring () Copy files names in the kill ring. Re: [Orgmode] Adding path and file name into file links
Bastien, Thanks, the latter does exactly what I want, obviously a terminology thing confusing my question. With Explorer in Windows I can right click on a file and select copy file name to the clipboard which copies and the path and file name to the clipboard. I can then paste the path and file name into any other program. And 'org-store-link' seems to provide the same facility with dired and Org-mode/ However, I cant get C-u C-c C-l to work. I still seem to need to type in the file path and file name, rather than have the ability to search for a file. Presumably I am missing the obvious. [Orgmode] feature request
Hi fellows, I have a question/feature request. Often tables are a very easy and apropriate way to structure information that are fluent. I work at the following table (e.g.): | Hotel | Manager | price | requested | booked | --- | blah | Mayer| 250 | | | | bluh | Schulze | 260 || | Now here comes what would be neat: The tables lists all Hotels who offer seminar rooms, which person is banquett manager, the price for the room. Since I often book rooms for seminars (or invite people to workshops etc.) managing bookings/invitations via tables is more effective than doing it with TODO-items (more so because the same table is used over and over again). What would help greatly would be a way to manage fields the same way as with TODO items: A key-string would place a NO RUNNING ANSWERED button right there ... same way as with TODO-items. Is this already possible? Haven't found it in the manual. Greetings, ray ___ Emacs-orgmode mailing list Remember: use `Reply All' to send replies to the list. [Orgmode] Task time limit
Hi, another idea for a feature (if it's not already possible) that would definitely come handy. I have few tasks that should only take a limited amount of my time each day. For example, check the feed reader would be set to 20 minutes. I would clock-in the task, go and check the reader and after 20 mins, alarm would go off, reminding me that I should start doing something else. Is this possible with current version? [Orgmode] problems with links to MH mails.
I'm having difficulties using links within org to MH mails. For example, I have an email in a folder, and I hit ^C-l to store it. In org-mode, I hit ^C-^L to insert the link, and it gets inserted as: Link: mhe:+mail-lists/[EMAIL PROTECTED] Description: Email from Dale Smith: [Orgmode] Re: Linux Journal So far so good. However if I try to look at the link using ^C-^O I get an error message. In *Messages* it says: Executing mairix... mh-mairix-execute-search: Wrong type argument: listp, [EMAIL PROTECTED] It is not just mairix BTW - I had a similar problem with swish++. Any ideas ? Is this something I need to raise on the mh list or is it an org-mode issue ? Re: [Orgmode] File specific exporting of tags
Daniel J. Sinder [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes: The documentation for org-export-with-tags mentions the file specific tags option. But, it should probably be added to 12.6.5 in the manual (I'm looking at manual version 5.13e). Yes. I guess I will have to make sure this sentence at the bottom of the manual is true for this `org-export-with-tags' option: These options take effect in both the HTML and LaTeX export... Section 12.6.5 should also state the valid values, which as far as I can tell are 't', 'nil', and 'not-in-toc'. Right. I think what you need is colum view for properties, rather than tables. Each property is like a field, and you switch between values easily. You can select the property you want to display in the column view. Each headline will be displayed as a table row in column view. And finally, you can capture this column view with C-c C-x r. See details in the manual: (info (org)Column view) (info (org)Capturing Column View) I think it's worth giving it a try. Tables have their own ways of handling cells and buttons would be confusing IMO. -- Bastien ___ Emacs-orgmode mailing list Remember: use `Reply All' to send replies to the list. Re: [Orgmode] Adding path and file name into file links
Bastien Ah OK, so I wasn't missing anything, you can't actually search for a file using C-u C-c C-l. As files I want to link can be several layers deep in a directory structure and have names I can't remember, and as a said, the dired approach works fine. Thanks again.
