Perhaps a change in the code (emacs 21 was indent-to-left-margin),
which didn't make it to the manual.
That seems to be a change made by Stephan.
Stephan, what was the reason for that change?
If you mean me, then yes, I made that change. All Emacs modes use
indent-relative or some more specific indentation function (except for
paragraph-indent-text-mode), so it made more sense to make it the default.
