Regarding Addressing to EMC-PSTC...

Just a minor point friends, please check your addressing of replies or
original messages to the EMC-PSTC list before you send them. I've noted a
few messages recently, and on other random occasions, that were duplicated;
delivered twice with the same content. One case I noted addressed both
emc-p...@ieee.org, and also owner-emc-p...@majordomo.ieee.org; apparently
either address send the email to the entire list. Consequently, I (and I
assume many others) got two copies of the same message.

RE: Taiwan EMI Requirements

1997-12-15 Thread DouglasScott
Craig,
emc-pstc group,

We are on the path for Taiwan approvals. A local test house has been approved
by the BCIQ for testing here in the USA. They have a coordinator in Taiwan that
they will use to make applications through to the BCIQ. I have two products
tested already and three more scheduled. We will be making applications within
the next week and I can fill you in on any problems we encounter.

From what we have learned so far:

Yes the Jan. 1 1998 date is still effective.

Marking on the product itself is required Jan. 1, 1998.

There are no additional grace periods that we have heard of.

Don't know about whare-housed products.

Regards,

Scott

Has anyone heard anything more regarding the planned implementation
of the EMI testing, registration and labeling requirements that are to
become effective in Taiwan on Jan.1?

Before the Jul. 1, 1997 date was postponed to Jan. 1, 1998, Taiwan was
going to allow (on an interim basis) manufacturers to put the Taiwan EMI
marking information on the product packaging rather than on the actual
product. Will this still be allowed, or on Jan. 1 will all applicable products
sold in Taiwan be required to bear the Taiwan EMI information?

Has there been any information on additional grace periods or is Jan. 1
the final date for manufacturers to meet full compliance (testing,
registration, product labeling)?

What about product that is warehoused in the country prior to the Jan. 1
date? Can these products be sold or do they have to be relabeled with
the appropriate Taiwan EMI information?

Thanks for any information.
