Shield room door for sale

1999-08-11 Thread Lfresearch

Hi everyone,

a recent project I've just finished was to take two shield rooms and make
them into one. Yes it took some work but wasn't difficult. Amongst the left
over parts is a door made by Universal in ecceptional condition, but it's
taking up space.

I can crate this up and ship it to anyone interested in repairing, or
upgrading their chamber: for the right price.

Anyone interested?

Thanks,

Derek.

Fwd: Write-up of 1999 IEEE EMC Symposium

1999-08-11 Thread Lfresearch
Sorry folks,

I got deluged with responses, and I'm only just getting to them. The write up
I offered to send out is part of my newsletter. It has some material in it
that would be considered publicity if I posted it to everyone: I don't want
to offend anyone.

I guess I talk a lot too, last years write up was about 10 pages in .pdf
format. I'm sure the list keeper would love that, unless he's on Linux;-)

Am I too paranoid?

Derek.

Wanted:EMC test chamber

1999-08-11 Thread Ray Levasseur

Hi Group,
I am setting up pre-compliance EMC testing at our facility and need some
equipment to complete my setup. I was planning on a 3m shielded room with
the possibility of making it semi-anechoic when the budget allows. Our
products are large (relative to normal ITE equipment)with the largest that
would be tested in the chamber 10ft wide X 6ft long X 3ft high. I have most
of the equipment I need to do the tests for EN 55022 and EN 50082. I need a
motorized antenna mast that goes from 1-4m and a chamber. If anyone could
direct me to a person or company selling the chamber or antenna mast I would
greatly appreciate it. Also I would like to get some feedback on the Cassper
virtual chamber and if anyone has used it or has comments on the usability
of such a system.

RE: Rockwell Modem, need info.?

1999-08-11 Thread John Juhasz
The UL Yellow books only apply to 'recognized' components. If the Rockwell
modem is 'listed', the Yellow Books will not contain that info.

George, if there is a UL file number on that product, contact your local UL
office and ask them.
If the product was evaluated by ETL, Factory Mutual, or another NRTL, it
will not be in the Yellow Book.

Hi Ray and George,

Compliance with UL 1950 can be demonstrated with UL, ETL, and NRTL safety

ITE EMC and China

1999-08-11 Thread reheller

I was surfing the NIST Global Standards Program website yesterday and I was
reviewing the meeting notes on the Second US - China Workshop Summary on
Standards, Testing, and Certification held in Beijing on March 10-12,
1999.

In the meeting notes it stated that the EMC standards for ITE in China were
GB9254-1998 and GB/T17618-1998 and that these standards were equivalent to
CISPR 22 and CISPR 24 respectively.

Does anyone know if this means that immunity tests are required for IT

China Standard for ITE product

1999-08-11 Thread georgea

The PRC GB 4943 is virtually equivalent to IEC 60950 (1995 version).
The only delta I know of is that tests are to +/-10% rated voltage versus
the norm of +6%/-10%. A CB Certificate/Test Report, though not required,
is advised for time and cost purposes. The line cord must have CCEE
approval and have the Great Wall mark.

As of 1/1/00 all listed ITE must also meet EMC EMI requirements based
on CISPR 22. This includes previously safety approved products.

In summary, the requirements are not that much different from the global
230V community, although the process itself is the most complex I have
encountered with many agencies/offices involved (SAIQ, CQC, CCIB,
Review Offices, Testing Labs).

Jess,

I believe it is GB 4943 but it is only based on IEC 60950 and compliance
with IEC 60950 does not equate to compliance with GB4943. You may wish to
know also that GB 1002 is a Chinese standard for mains power plugs.

Best regards,
Kevin

 Hi,

Could someone please advise as what is the China standard(GB ???) that is

 Thanks in advance !

RE: Down Under

1999-08-11 Thread WOODS, RICHARD

Everything you ever wanted to know about EMC can be found at
http://www.sma.gov.au/ http://www.sma.gov.au/ . Basically, the product
must comply with CISPR 22. In-country testing is not required. A local
representative/importer must apply for authority to apply the C-tick mark.
There are no fees. The local person must publish a Declaration of
Conformity.

It is my understanding that , other than the power cord assembly, safety
certification is not mandatory. However, voluntary safety certifications are
issued by the provincial power authorities. The national safety standard is
based upon IEC950 with some national deviations. Australia is a CB member.

Survey Concerns

1999-08-11 Thread J and P Global Acct

Wow. Tough audience. We're sorry if our request seemed so unreasonable,
but we were told that this e-mail list may be a friendly way to obtain
good input from a wide variety of people in the industry. Here is the
basic scoop on the situation.

We are a research firm that has been contracted by a group (still
ambiguous, we know), who wishes to remain anonymous at this time, to do a
short study of some current trends and aspects of the compliance testing
industry.

We apologize for any ambiguity that this may present. However, as
mentioned in our initial e-mail, we are looking for only as many people
as would feel free and open to share their opinions. If you are
uncomfortable about any items that may be presented in our survey, you
may leave that section blank. If you do not feel comfortable about the
entire concept, then we kindly ask that you do not respond at all.
Again, this is in no way a solicitation of any kind. NO ONE will contact
you regarding your response!

Thank you,

G. Perry
