AS/ANS60950-1:2011 CB Deviations

2011-04-26 Thread emc-p...@ieee.org
All:

>From the Australian Standards web site it appears that as of Feb 8, 2011
Australia & New Zealand now have a published modified national standard
based on the second edition of the IEC 60950-1:2005.

I have checked the CB Bulletin's country deviations for 60950-1:2nd Ed.
on the IEC CB Scheme web site but no AS/NZS deviational are yet listed
for this edition.

Anyone have a copy of these or know of went the deviation are expected
to be made available?

LF China 2.4 GHz FHSS standard/s

2011-04-26 Thread emc-p...@ieee.org
Hi group,

Previous attempt to identify the Chinese requirement for 2.4 GHz wireless
device, identifies GB-15629.1102, which turns out to be for DSSS (Direct
Sequencing Spread Spectrum). Does anyone knows what will be the correct
standard for FHSS?

Thanks,
N. Shani

Subject: Brazilian INMEtro requirements for power supplies

Hello everyone,

I am trying to confirm the Brazilian InMetro regulatory requirements for wall
wart type power supplies used with Audio Video equipment.

Last I heard there are no mandatory certification requirements for the power
supply other than the plug. Last info I had is meet
plugs/outlets/connectors/cords must be certified to NBR 14136.

Anyone have any other info conflicting with this?

Thanks,

John

RE: Brazilian INMEtro requirements for power supplies

2011-04-26 Thread emc-p...@ieee.org
See below from Bureau Veritas –

According to Decree 371, issued December 29, 2009, household and similar
electric appliances (eg. kettles, irons, vacuum cleaners) to be sold in Brazil
must be on the Compulsory INMETRO Certification List starting from July 1,
2011. Compulsory Certification falls under Brazilian System Conformity
Assessment (SBAC) where the regulatory authority determines that the products
sold in the country must have demonstrated compliance under Preservation of
the Environment, Health, and Safety of Human or Animal Life.

Article 3 of the Decree also establishes mandatory certification for household
appliances, and requires testing to be performed by a Product Certification
Body (OCP) that is accredited by INMETRO.

Enforcement Schedule of Decree 371

The Ordinance came into force on the date of publication, and therefore, the
household appliances are already subject to regulations for products traded in
Brazil. The Decree has divided compliance into three stages to provide time
for manufacturers and importers to adapt to the new requirements of IEC
60335-1and IEC 60335-2-x as described below:

1. From 1 July 2011, manufacturers and importers of equipment for use in the
domestic market, must comply with the requirements. (applies to all new
products)

2. From July 1, 2012, household electric appliances must be in compliance with
the approved requirements in order to be sold in the national market. (It will
be allowed for manufacturers and importers to sell all older products, without
INMETRO certification but already in manufacturers’ and importers’
warehouses, for a period of one year.)

3. From 1 January 2013, in order to sell household electric appliances in the
national market as mentioned above, they must be in compliance with the
approved requirements. (This deadline is specifically for those old products,
without INMETRO certification but already in the Brazilian market, to sell for
an additional six months.)

Products Mandatory under Decree 371

Products with this Regulation on Conformity Assessment (RAC) are those
included within the scope of standards ABNT, NBR, NM, NM or IEC from the
series 60335-2-x, except for products that are already included by other
coverage under the Conformity Assessment of INMETRO, such as industrial
cooking equipment, cleaning appliances for industrial and commercial usage,
gardening equipment and beauty parlor appliances.

Supplementary Decree 10

Released on January 25, 2010, Decree 10 supplements the regulations for
trading appliances in Brazil. It covers changes made to the insulation
classification of appliances. The class is determined by the amount of
protection and safety against electrical shock to the user. The Ordinance
prohibits the trading of electrical appliances Class 0 and Class 01 in Brazil,
but allows time for manufacturers and importers to adapt their products.
