RE: Poland Certification
Forwarded with Changes --- From: List-Post: emc-pstc@listserv.ieee.org Date: 10/10/96 8:04AM To: To: To: *To: *To: Subject: RE: Poland Certification --- Poland does require RFI testing only by a Polish certified lab. There are no commercial labs in the US. NEMKO is developing MOU's with several Eastern European countries which are imposing mandatory testing. Contact Morten Smith at NEMKO, Oslo at 47 22 96 03 67 by phone, or Morten sm...@nemko.telemax.no by e-mail. You can also call Grant Schmidbauer at NEMKO, US. I belive his office is in Carson City, but I don't have the phone number. Someone suggested using NEMKO. I have worked with them and found them to be very customer oriented. NEMKO has an office in California. I don't have the number, but they do advertise a lot. Contact them to see it fhey have a test lab in the US. Obtain the necessary test reports from NEMKO and apply to Poland. Of course, check first with the Polish authorities.
China Safety Licensing, October 1996
Forwarded with Changes --- From: List-Post: emc-pstc@listserv.ieee.org Date: 10/9/96 4:02PM To: To: To: *To: *To: Subject: China Safety Licensing, October 1996 --- Yes, indeed China has imposed mandatory product safety licensing effective Oct. 1, 1996 on additional categories. I believe the first listing was effective last year. There are 38 products listed in the "Second Catalogue of import commodities..." including the following listing for Item 16. "Switching Power Supply: Applies to switching power supply units built in computer or not, including UPS, direct plug-in adaptor (sic)" quoted from the translated catalogue. TV Rheinland's Newtown, Connecticut office ( phone 203-426-0888 ) can help you. I believe Underwriters Laboratories also has information, but I don't know which office. Also, 18 additional products will be added with an effectivity date of October 1,1997. Has anyone had experience with this? My concern is that "switching power supplies" are covered by this requirement. Does anyone know if there are other components covered by this requirement? Does anyone have a complete list of all the covered equipments / components? (I'm presently trying to obtain this from SACI). Thanks, John Dudek, Manager Product Safety Engineering Corcom Inc.
