RE: EN61000-3-2 +A14
Sorry for the confusion. I refer to it as an industrial PC in that mechanically it is in a no frills metal case which can be rack mounted. The basic question I has was, is a PC no longer considered a PC when its use becomes dedicated to a particular commercial task insofar as EN61000-3-2 is concerned? The point-of-sale(POS) example illustrates my question. On many POS systems, you can connect a mouse, bring up Windows and play solitaire. The peripherals connect to the standard PC ports. (At least they used to, its been awhile since I had exposure to POS development.) On one hand, you describe it as an industrial PC which would imply that it is not intended to be used on a public power network, so the standard would not apply. On the other hand, you indicate the end product is similar to point-of-sale terminals which are connected to the public power network; so the standard would apply and the product would, failing a better description, be considered a PC and subject to Class D limits. CISPR Compliant Spectrum analyzer/receiver
I need to rent a CISPR 16 compliant spectrum analyzer/receiver over the frequency range 0.15 - 30 MHz. Any suggestions? I'm familiar with the good ol' HP 8566 / 8568 (Do I need the preselector with them for CISPR 16 compliance?), and the RS ESI. What else may be out there available in the rental shops? 1 - 10 GHz Reference Source
A few months ago, I posted a design for a reference source which emitted harmonics of 250 MHz from 1 to 10 GHz. Since then I have received inquiries as to whether it will be made commercially available. Unfortunately, plans to do so have not materialized. While the description given should allow you to make your own, I am offering to make a few myself. If any of you are interested, let me know. I would need at least 10 commitments as the vendor is citing a minimum order for the oscillator of 10. Please respond for performance specifications (measurements made on actual source), and anticipated pricing. Antenna Distance
Is 10m emissions testing going away or unnecessary? What does the future hold? (Please indicate degree of uncertainty when projecting future changes.) We are a global company and must meet all international requirements as well as Bellcore. The reason I ask this is that I keep hearing via third parties that some test lab or other is claiming that they do all certification testing in a 3m / 5m chamber. 10m EMC SACs
I have some questions for those of you that work directly with or have other first hand experience with 10m SACs. I am in the process of evaluating the various options and vendors for a SAC and this input would be beneficial. 1) Who was the vendor? How would you rate them? 2) How old is the chamber? How well is it holding up? 3) What would you change if you could rebuild it? 4) What would you keep the same? From the responses to the above, I hope to get a good feel for the different vendors, not just from what the chosen references have to say. Also, I hope to get a sense of the experience level of the different vendors. 1-10 GHz Source.
As requested, here are the plots of the 1- 10 GHz source I made. Two of the plots are the results of scans made at 3 m. The other 3 plots are of the unit fed directly into a spectrum analyzer which programmatically sampled the output levels over time. The sampling interval was about every 4 minutes. These plots show the difference in output stability when NiMh batteries are used vs. alkaline. All plots are in PDF format. Let me know if you have problems with either the ZIP file or viewing the PDFs. Source.zip Source.zip attachment: Source.zip
