Dear All,
Sorry if this is out of place - I have been out for a day and am going
through messages in reverse order...
I would like to support what Doug has said - moderating a user group is a
thankless task - it requires enormous personal effort, not just with the
technical issues - but in the politics of moderating.
Even within a tightly controlled arena it can be a minefield, as anyone who
has done the job will know.
Therefore - if someone has not done so already - here is a vote of thanks
for the moderators and administrators without whose efforts this discussion
could not take place.
T H A N KY O U
There are - as John points out - many wrong answers - and as he has
demonstrated - many ways to offend.
We all need to accept that some of us are offended by incorrect statements,
but rudeness is never justified - and being English I do not accept the
'misunderstanding' claim.
Being right is not reason enough to be rude.
Maybe John should start his own site for information.
I believe that the domain www.flame.com is available.
That way we can all choose to visit John and ask for technical help without
having to be cautious not to risk offending he and being flamed.
Sorry If I am wasting bandwidth repeating what has been said already.
Best regards
Gregg

Let's keep a perspective here.
Whether you wish to accept it or not, we are
all members of this list because we agree to the
terms of being a member of this list.
The administrators can be as dragonian or
libertarian as they wish. Thankfully they aren't
on both accounts.
I think they do a good job as administrators and I
think John did a good job as a member. But things
happen. I don't know nor do I want to know what
happened off-line. But, as far as I'm concerned, John
made the decision to leave and left of his own accord.
He was not tossed off the list.
So with all due respect, email John offline and ask
him to come back if you wish. If he does, he does.
If he doesn't, then he doesn't. And that's that.
But, let's move onto something else, please.
Regards, Doug McKean
