Kevin, Regarding b) most UL standards require an equipment hung from a wall to sustain a weight 4 times the weight of the equipment after being mounted in accordance to manufacturer's instructions. If you do not specify type of wall, the test is done on a dry wall of a specific thickness - refer to UL1950 for details. You will note that ceiling is not specified in the standard - however, same test is applied for ceiling mounted equipment - you wouldn't want a ceiling mounted projector to fall on someone's head Regarding a) no there is no such limitation. However, there is a limitation on the force handles used for carrying equipment must sustain -also refer to UL1950 for details.
