Japanese DENAN (PSE) Law now covers Li-ion batteries.

Li-ion batteries with energy density 400 Wh/L or larger are
planned to be covered by the DENAN (PSE) Law.
The new regulation is still in draft, and planned to be take
into effect in 20th November this year.

The technical requirement would be that of JIS C 8712 plus
few additional tests, and JIS C 8714 for batteries for
portable equipment.

The information in Japanese is available at:

  http://www.meti.go.jp/committee/materials/g71212dj.html

but, unfortunately, I don't know of the English version.

PSE---energy density 400 watts per liter

2008-01-21 Thread emc-p...@ieee.org
Good morning

A question had been directed to me recently and I think that this is
involves safety.

I did not receive much detail only the a couple of snippets.
1) Be aware that there is an amendment under review to Japan PSE
2) affecting Li-ion battery with energy density 400 watts per liter

Would someone be so kind to direct me to the regulation and/or news
relating to the forgoing?

Thank you for your help,
