Ready-made connecting devices

2003-08-14 Thread rehel...@mmm.com

Under the proposal for the new EMC Directive, it is my understanding that
"ready-made connecting devices" (not sold with the equipment) will require
CE marking. Has there been any thought, proposal, procedure, etc. as to how
they are to be tested for compliance and to what standard? For the most
part I would assume these to be separately sold data/communication cables.

Probably. There is a commercial aspect: suppliers of 'good' cables, with
high-quality shielding and ferrite rings, don't want to be undercut by
damp string imported by Sum Yung Gai.

I believe they are to be tested for emissions and immunity as part of a
'typical' (compliant) system.

Not likely to be *required*: it is very unpopular, except with Notified
Bodies, of course.

"Ready Made Connecting Devices"

2001-06-25 Thread reheller

What are the chances of "ready made connecting devices" remaining in the
EMCD 2000 as defined (i.e., cables et al)?

If testing (CE marking) is required, are there existing standards/test
methods that will cover these "devices"?

Or will the TCF route be required?
