Re: [Emc-users] using EMC for a manual CMM
I think I should be able to do this with the parallel port or at most a Mesa card. Anybody tried this or have advice? having EMC2 display the machine position in DRO-mode should be fairly straightforward, and you could write the coordinates to disk when the user presses a button, or every 1s or something similar. You might have to DIY the GUI for your particular application. Your choice between a parallel port and a mesa card will depend on the maximum pulse rate on the encoders, if you will push the machine around fast so that the pulse rate is 10 kHz or more you will probably want a mesa card or some other fast encoder counter solution. [Emc-users] retrofitting a maho
Hello everybody, I am currently in the proces of doing a emc2 retrofit on a maho mh400c. The maho uses a analog servo drive and motors from indramat. the servodrive is a indramat 3trm2. i am currently still gathering information on the build and how to hook up the servo amp to my mesa boards. i have the following boards: 1x Mesa 5i20 1x Mesa 7i33(TA) 2x Mesa 7i37(TA) if anyone has any experience about these servo amps i would like to hear from them, any info would be very apreciated. Hi, I'm running EMC 2.2.8 and I'm trying to call an external program using 'halui. mdi-command-xx' commands in the ini file but it seems that EMC had a limit of 10 halui.mdi-command-xx. Don Stanley wrote: Hi All; What conditions do the JP1 and JP2 set? I need 0-10 Volt from the DAC, preferably using all eight bits. As shipped, the jumpers allow SSR1 to enable positive outputs, and SSR2 enables negative. With both SSRs off, output is set to zero. If you want positive output when either SSR1 or SSR2 is on, remove JP1, and put JP2 to the middle position. If you think of the 4 pins as a T, then the jumper goes on the vertical bar of the T. This way, SSR1 and SSR2 enable and control the direction of the spindle, and the DAC only provides the speed. If you want the DAC totally independent of SSR1 and SSR2, then remove JP1, and move JP2 so it is closest to the JP2 marking. You always get the full 8-bit (0-255) range of outputs. Re: [Emc-users] Pico-Sysrems Spindle DAC. Why does its output only change in 10% steps??
Don Stanley wrote: Hi All; Both my new Spindle DACs, fed through a USC, only changes output in 1 volt steps. Is this normal? Any response appreciated. Nope, it is an artifact of the way you must be converting spindle speed (S words) to DAC output. Here's some code from my univstep_io.hal file : # set scale for 5000 RPM MAX and connect spindle speed to USC DAC setp ppmc.0.DAC8.00.scale 500.0 newsig spinspeed float linksp spinspeed = motion.spindle-speed-out linksp spinspeed = ppmc.0.DAC8.00.value Note we are sending the speed as a float to the DAC value input, and scaling with 500 there. Assuming a 10 V maximum output = 5000 RPM, then the factor of 500.0 does the correct scaling. Jon Thanks, that fixed that. The other 10% step problem is; motion.spindle-speed-out is passed through scale.0 and mux2.0 to correct for different gears of the spindle drive. One of those is apparently messing with the data but it looks good in Hal Show. I'll test that tomorrow and pass it on. Unless you (or someone) already know the answer and solution?
