You've got lots of room for more roofing then. I'm about out. :(

Re: [Emc-users] 5i25 detected, but not the 7i77 yet

2012-06-17 Thread Maximilian H

Hello Andy, Hello Peter, Hello List,

I flashed the 7i77x2.bit firmware to the 5i25 using the mesaflash
utility found in the 5i25.zip file on the mesanet website.

Then I tried to load the hm2_pci hal module again without success with
the loadrt line that you suggested.

But so far I have not gotten the 5i25+7i77 to work.

I used the 7i77x2 firmware because I have not seen any firmware with
just one 7i77. All details below.

Could you please point me in the right direction on where to look for my
problem?

BR.
Max.

This is what I did:

In the first terminal:
$ halrun
halcmd: loadrt hostmot2

And then the second terminal:
$ echo 5 > /proc/rtapi/debug

In the first terminal again:
halcmd: loadrt hm2_pci config="num_encoders=6 sserial_port_0=000xxx"

Well obviously I didn't know what a Hectare was.
Ironically my house lot is very close to a Hectare at 2.4 acres (in
"flyover country"), so now I know I can relate to a Hectare. :-)

Whitworth thread has a 55 degree thread angle. This is better than a
60 degree angle, but harder to draw.
(Whitworth calculated that 55 degrees gave the best combination of
clamping force and self-locking)
Most of the world's thread standards compromise to make things easier
for the draughtsman and tool grinder.
BA threads are 47.5 degrees. I don't know why. However BA is
interesting as the sizes are mathematically derived on a series of
equations.

Pipe threads are Imperial Units - BSP (British Standard Pipe) and have a
Whitworth thread form.

Have a read up on Joseph Whitworth - He displayed a machine in 1855
that could measure to an accuracy of one millionth of an inch. He was
also the guy who defined a standard thread 1841 to aid the speed of
manufacture.
