Victim here also.
I saw the memo, thought it was a scam of some type, ignored it and then
later had to resubscribe.
No harm, no foul, better to be cautious than sorry.

Re: [Emc-users] Backlash compensation speed

2017-08-30 Thread Stuart Stevenson
Gentlemen,
I don't know specifically about backlash as I use bidirectional lead screw
comp if at all possible.
Many moons ago when I was putting EMC2 on the blue cinci at MPM I noticed
the compensation motion had different velocity and or acceleration. One
direction is was smooth and looked as if the configured axis motion was
applied. The other direction was immediate and sudden. I reported it and it
was fixed in just a few hours. Now both directions obey the configuration
parameters for each axis.

I would think backlash application would also obey axis configuration
parameters.

thanks
Stuart

2017-08-30 Thread Cecil Thomas

Peter,
The same thing happened to me and I had to rejoin.
Apparently some of the list members got messages from Sourceforge
asking them to confirm their membership and some didn't. Those who
did not confirm their membership ( which would be those who never got
the memo) were dropped from the list. If you want to catch up on
what has been on the list since you were dropped you can scan the archives.

Gentlemen,
since Aug. 2, I have not seen any mails from LinuxCNC (EMC). Is
there something wrong with my subscription, or is everybody on
vacation? Did you change the mail address? In addition, our village
has repeatedly been cut off from communications because of cable
failures on the way from town to us here way out.

One of the reasons my Sheldons apron is more easily removed. 12 bolts. 8
for the plate, 4 for the Z drive nut holder and its all laying on the
edge of the chip pan.

Backlash comp was at one time done instantly, but that led to stalls and
lost steps if the lash was more than a thou, so if my memory serves me
correctly, backlash takeup is now made at the revelant axis's MAX_VEL
and MAX_ACCELERATION settings. I believe since 2.2.0? Lots of lash, as
in 10 thou or so, can be easily observed even at creep speed reversals.

I was having a backlash issue yesterday that lead me to wondering. How is
backlash taken up? At rapid speed? At max acceleration? More? Less? What
governs how the motion to backlash comp is taken up?

Kind of a moot point because it turned out my backlash problem was some
loose bolts in a super inaccessible spot under the saddle... Good times.
But still curious about the software side of things.

[Emc-users] Acceleration Confusion

2017-08-30 Thread 王若溪
I have an XHC-HB04 18-button wireless MPG on my mill. It's amazing that it
works on LinuxCNC. But I found something confusing about acceleration:

   1. The acceleration in [XHC_HB04_CONFIG]mpg_accels seems to have an
effect on both jogging and program running. Isn't it supposed to affect MPG
   jogging only?
   2. Probably not related to XHC_HB04. Jog acceleration when using
Shift+Arrow keys seems to be higher than G0 acceleration. I thought they
should be identical. I'm using Axis GUI, [AXIS_#]MAX_ACCELERATION = 250,
   [AXIS_#]STEPGEN_MAXACCEL = 937.5

Maybe there is some internal mechanism that I don't know, hope someone
could cast some light on it.
