Edit the PROGRAM_PREFIX line in the configuration .ini file to
your desired directory.

Subject: [Emc-users] How to change the default directory AXIS looks in to open
a file??

Hello folks, I am using AXIS on two Probotix routers in a high school, and I am
always looking for ways to make things easier for the kids. Easier means less
problems. In that vein, I have a question that Google and messing around in
AXIS have not helped me with!
I try to reduce the number of steps the kids need for each part of the process.
We program on laptops and transfer files to the routers using USB keys.
Unfortunately, when we open our files, we have to work up through several
directories from the default "open file" directory, and then down through
"media" to get to the USBs.
It would be great if I could redirect the default "open file" directory to
"media."  Can anyone point me in the right direction to make this change?
Thanks in advance for any advice you might have on changing this aspect of AXIS!

Yes, all the offsets in the tool-table that have a matching axis are acted on.

While discussing the tool table I'll ask a question (it is too cold in the
shop to try it right now). Are all offsets (Z, X, Y) acted upon in a mill?
I'd like to use X/Y in the tool table to position an auxiliary spindle when
a special tool numbers that are in the auxiliary spindle are selected.

It would be the offset in the W axis. I doubt that you have a W axis,
so you won't see any effect, but the tool changer should be able to
read the value.

You could also add a symbolic link to the media directory in your
default files directory. That might work better if the USB stick is
ever unplugged.

How about an entry in the W column of the tool table?

looks like it did, but be aware that your message back to you is
considered a duplicate and nuked by gmail so you usually won't see the
echo as a confirmation that it worked. It is not discussable with
google, BTDT, and the main reason I no longer use google's mail.

Some have solved that by subscribeing at 2 different names, posting only
thru one so you will get a confirmation echo delivered to the other.
Your email agent, which one not stated in the headers of this msg can
probably solve solve that sorting problem. by sorting both names to the
list folder.

[Emc-users] Has anyone made use of a tool table entry in re a tool changer?

2018-12-06 Thread Gene Heskett
Greetings all;

One of the problems I'll have to solve in the future for a tool changer,
is the diff in unlock run time of the ratchet wrench, dependent on
whether the tool is in a TTS like holder, and all thats being changed is
the TTS holder or needs to have the r9 itself changed, For the TTS, an
unscrew of just enough to loosen the R8's grip on the TTS tool holder.

But if changing the r8 because the next tool is gooped at the correct
length in an r8, I'll have to run the ratchet wrench another half an
inch+ to totally drop the r8. This is also a lot more rise and fall of
the z axis to achieve the clearance needed to move the chain. IOW I'll
need to have two different canned motion sequences somehow controlled
either by a tool table entry, or something to tell the tool changer what
its to do.

How have the rest of you solved this problem on a smaller mill that might
use both styles of tool holders? I could see a flag on the pocket
tripping a microswitch, or at the expense of a longer chain, dedicated
pockets, or a prox sw above the pocket that would trigger only on the
longer r8? And probably something I haven't imagined yet.

Thanks for any suggestions I can carve into this when I find my lost
round tuit.
