Hi again,

Thanks for the feedback on draft 1. It gave me inspiration and
motivation to iterate on it!

Much of the rework is because I want to bring more _community_ into
our video. It's easy to forget amidst all the fancy new features but I
think it is an important thing to celebrate as part of GNOME 3.24. I
also think will connect really well with our call for contribution
that we have in the end of the video. You get a much better idea what
kind of community you are joining. :-)

I also have good ideas for the animations (sorry for all the brackets
stuff). Anyway, you can find the new draft here:

https://wiki.gnome.org/ThreePointTwentythree/ReleaseVideo [1]

So, a bit different from normal release videos but this will be a nice
experiment, let's see where it takes us.

What do you think? Please leave feedback on the wiki page or reply
here.

I like it!!! I made some minor tweeks, which I would normally do while

Thank you for doing this! I made some of the changes that I would

would look more professional if GNOME's public-facing resources are at

Is the engagement team willing to maintain at least the most prominent
of these resources? Would it help to have a list of them with
frequencies on how often they should be checked?

For example:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GNOME_Foundation - had an old list of

We wanted to check in with you and let you know that your money has made

To point out some highlights from the past year:

* We held our first ever West Coast Hackfest
* GNOME.Asia in Beijing was very successful (with FIXME attendees and
FIXME speakers)

* We released GNOME 3.12 (check out the cool video FIXME link)
* We cheered as Allan Day won the award for best individual contributor
for the UK Open Source Awards, and our accessibility team received an
honorable mention for the Chris Nicol prize.
* We gained two new advisory board members (thanks, Private Internet
Access and Linux Foundation!)
* We hosted Pitivi's fundraising campaign (there's still time to donate!
FIXME link)

We've also banded together to deal with the administrative crisis caused
by the success of our popular Outreach Program for Women (we're still
working on it but are in much better shape).

We hope you will consider coming to Strasbourg and joining the fun as we
get together for GUADEC 2014 on July 26-August 1. We'll be talking about

FWIW: Allan and I were thinking about writing the donors of the last 3

so in order to thank them for enabling us to have a great event in
China. Maybe

with some photos of people that we sponsored to go and some reports.
By now, I think it's a bit too late, but maybe someone else doesn't
and wants to
get it done.

I think at this point lumping that in with this email makes the most

I've mentioned a couple of times in #engagement.

I thought it would be nice to do a little interview that features a
sponsor of both OPW and GNOME, and Chris was very happy to accommodate.

Anyway, I'm not the best at coming up with these questions (and I always
leave off the fun ones that Flavia is really good at!) but here's an
attempt...

Any suggestions?

Google has been a longstanding supporter of OPW and one of the first
funders that supported the program generally (as opposed to just interns
for a particular participating organizations). Why is it important to
you and to Google to support the program?

As you know, OPW was in large part inspired by GSoC. We know that Google
is doing its own outreach to include women and other underrepresented
groups in GSoC and Google Code-In - what have you found to be the most
effective?

Marina and Karen have both appeared in a Google Women Techmaker series
to talk about OPW, which was a great platform to spread the word about
the program. What kinds of initiatives do you think we'll see in the
future?

Google has been a member of GNOME's advisory board for quite a while
(thank you!), what do you like best about GNOME (or GNOME technologies)?

Karen, did you get any quote from Arun at yahoo?

yes! I'm waiting on confirmation from yahoo marketing on the final
 wording.

we also have a red hat quote already and I'm working on EFF still (just
sent a ping), with two external quotes already we can get an internal
quote if we want at the last minute

You are right! I am in the process of obtaining at least one quote,
and I think Karen said she'd do the others. We discussed it at one of
 the recent meetings.

I got a good quote back from Arun at yahoo but I sent it back with a
suggested edit before submitting it to you guys. So we're at least good
 on
 one quote already!

I probably can't make this meeting either as I'll be en route to sxsw.
I'm also up for another day of the week in the future.

Any chances we could move future meetings to another weekday?

Thanks!

I've got the phone line set up in case we want to use it, but we should

Being a non-profit organization[0], I would assume so (but then I am
not a lawyer).

We are a 501(c)(3) organization, but that doesn't mean we can't ever
charge for services. Basically it's more of a matter of whether the
income is taxed or not, and to make sure that this kind of activity
isn't a substantial part of what we do. This is of course an over
simplification, but you can read more about the details in the part of
the legal primer I wrote when I was at SFLC:

http://softwarefreedom.org/resources/2008/foss-primer.html#x1-370003.5.3

Of course, no matter what we do it should always be to forward software
freedom and GNOME technologies :)

That's strange - we definitely should replenish the box, and with the

was any confusion about that. I believe we have some stickers we can

Attendance has become bad unfortunately. I'm partially to blame. I

try to find a new optimum time.

OK, I made a dudle schedule for next week:

The times are all in UTC,and I chose the narrow band of time that's not
