If anyone wants a writing task during GUADEC

2018-07-05 Thread Rosanna Yuen
Hi,

GUADEC is a great time to do interviews with attendees for the GNOME
Engagement Blog. If you are interested in meeting more GNOME people and
helping out the engagement team by writing a blog post for it, that would
be awesome! The gitlab issue with some suggested people we want to cover
is https://gitlab.gnome.org/Community/Engagement/General/issues/93

Please remember the goal of the engagement blog is to highlight the people
in GNOME and not the technologies. In addition, highlighting the diversity
in GNOME is highly encouraged.

See you at GUADEC!

Is there documentation/walkthrough as to how this process would work?
Especially for those of us who have never used gitlab before? Otherwise
this seems like another technical barrier to entry for what should be a

I have never done this myself; maybe someone who has employee matching at

Hi everyone,

This is a quick reminder about our GNOME Engagement team meeting
tomorrow *Friday,
2016-03-25 (March 25th) at 17:00 UTC*. At that time, join the
#engagement channel and go on https://meet.jit.si/engagement.

Please see the agenda here: Engagement Meeting Agenda
<https://etherpad.gnome.org/p/engagement-team-meetings> [1]. We will do any
new member introductions first, then go over any new meeting items, and
lastly, sync on the ongoing initiatives. If you have anything you'd like us
to talk about, please add it to the new meeting item list.

See you soon!

Best,

To join the engagement team meeting, make sure that you have an IRC account
and join the #engagement channel. IRC setup instructions are here:
https://wiki.gnome.org/Community/GettingInTouch/IRC

Make sure you know what time 17:00 UTC is in your timezone. If you want to
chat before the call, just email or ping me on IRC: zana.

If you feel comfortable, add yourself to the "New Member Introductions"
section of the agenda (https://etherpad.gnome.org/p/engagement-team-meetings).
We'd love to say hi and learn more about who you are and what you're
interested in.

We look forward to meeting you!

*Note: if you're new to IRC, you should set up your IRC account at least an
hour before the team call since it will take around 15 - 30 minutes to set
up. You may want to try using a web-based client first and then ping

Re: Social media for 3.20 release day

2016-03-23 Thread Rosanna Yuen
Hi Allan and engagement team,

I've put a small draft in our Facebook account with the link to the release
notes you gave me. However, because Facebook likes to preload the page and
the notes aren't live yet, it shows a broken link. I think the link has to
be deleted and repasted in for it to find the notes after they're live.

Also, the link to the video is as yet unavailable. We can send it
separately if necessary.

I can be available as early as 1400UTC if necessary. Please let me know.

Thanks,
Rosanna

Re: Regarding the announcement of the GNOME Asia Summit 2016 location and dates

2015-10-06 Thread Rosanna Yuen
Hi,

I did a couple of quick edits but have a big question: is GNOME.Asia
planned for New Delhi or Delhi? The official announcement from the
committee said New Delhi.

Thanks,
Rosanna

Re: GNOME Annual Report | Status Update - Articles Complete!

2015-09-14 Thread Rosanna Yuen
In recent years, because we handed them out at GUADEC, we kindly asked the
local team at each GUADEC to print them for us. Prior to that, we've used
Lulu. Unfortunately, none of that is really useful for what we need.

Thanks,
Rosanna

Re: Photo pledge, we need more photos from GNOME events

2015-02-06 Thread Rosanna Yuen
Is taking official event photos an available option when asking for
travel sponsorship? If yes, it really needs to be advertised more. That
would make it more unlikely that we would be missing crucial photos for the
annual report.

Sorry, I totally forgot to reply to this. The main reasons I went for
  our ownCloud instance were:

   * It allows the Engagement Team to collaborate on curating the sets of
 images.
   * We can use it to keep our own copy of photos, in case they
  disappear off the internet.
   * It means that the images can be stored alongside other team assets,
such as merchandise designs, screenshots, dummy content, and archives.

That said, I'm not dead against using another service.

Perhaps we could mirror one to the other? We'll still need a private
repo for images that we may not want to share with the rest of the
world either because the author may have given their permission only
for use by the GNOME Project or some other restriction.

Re: Friends of GNOME Web Pages

2014-08-14 Thread Rosanna Yuen
Hello, Engagement team!

Is there a time frame for implementing these changes? A few of us are
deciding whether it is worthwhile to pursue alternate (and probably
cheaper) methods of shipping gifts, but if we are going to do away with
gifts in the near future, it may be better to just use up current stock.

As for the mockup, it looks really nice! I do have a couple of comments
about it:

1) It is a shift to stop referring to one-time donors as Friends of
GNOME. Is this a conscious change?

2) We have had people request annual subscriptions that occur once a year.
This is easier for them to be able to get employer matching. Would that
be possible to implement these subscriptions on the form? And perhaps
point the possibly of employer matching to people?

3) Under Details, there is a checkbox for Don't list me on the members
page. Should members be replaced by donors? Otherwise it would be
confusion between Foundation memberships and Friends of GNOME memberships.

Thanks,
Rosanna

 Hi all,

During the Engagement BoF at GUADEC, we spent a bit of time discussing

the Support Us/Friends of GNOME web pages:

 https://raw.githubusercontent.com/gnome-design-team/gnome-marketing/master/websites/friends-of-gnome/friends-of-gnome.png

There are a few goals/significant changes here:

  * Provides a more elaborate case for why donating is important, and
 how donations are used.
  * Makes it clear that Friends of GNOME is for regular monthly
donations, and clearly separates them from one time donations.
  * Greatly simplifies the options.
  * Drops the adopt a hacker scheme, along with promises of gifts. This
is mostly to simplify things on our end; I think we'd still like to
send postcards, but more as a surprise bonus rather than as a promise.
  * Adds a questionnaire, so we can gather more information on who is
 donating and why.

I'd be happy to carry on developing this mockups. I can also help with
text and visual assets if anyone wants to work on web development for
 this.

Re: Reinvigoratoring the GNOME Amazon store

2014-08-05 Thread Rosanna Yuen
Hi Juanjo,

From the Amazon Affiliates program, we get payments from the United States,
Great Britain, and Germany. We have gotten notices for gift certificates
for the Japan site, but as the GNOME Foundation does not have any need to
purchase any items in Japan, these certificates do not get used. I vaguely
remember being signed up for Amazon France, but unless the payment is
grouped with the German or UK payment, I am not sure where it goes.

Hopefully this info is useful; let me know if you need me to dig any deeper
into any of these accounts.

Thanks,
Rosanna

 Hi !

In 2009 we introduced an amazon store in the friend of gnome page [1].
AFAIR, Jaap Haitsma was, at least, one of the person on charge of this and
did a very good job. When you make your Amazon purchases at this store the
GNOME Foundation will receive a referral fee which amounts to 4-6% of the
total purchase you make. Depending on where you live you can use the US
 http://www.gnome.org/friends/amazon/, Canada
 http://www.gnome.org/friends/amazon/ca, Germany
 http://www.gnome.org/friends/amazon/de, France
 http://www.gnome.org/friends/amazon/fr, Japan
 http://www.gnome.org/friends/amazon/jp or UK
 http://www.gnome.org/friends/amazon/uk store.

Long time has passed since then, and it needs some work to accomodate to
 new times :-)

 - New amazon stores has been opened in China, Spain, India and Italy.
 - The selection of our store has been frozen in that time and it needs
some updates (new items related to GNOME, Free Software, etc)
 - There are other ways to make the donation apart from using the store. In
amazon US there is a dedicated page, http://smile.amazon.com/ , so you
can set the GNOME Foundation to make donations automatically from all your
 purchases.

I think we need a plan :-). I think we can discuss this topic a little bit
in the engagement team and ask for some action/permission to the GNOME
 Foundation board to accomplish.

 Cheers,
