Indeed, I missed that one when reading the list. I download 18+140 and
uploaded all three to the GUADEC channel.

It was marked private instead of unlisted. I fixed this now.

My "originals" are 384x288 in MP4 format. If the webm version looks
better, it might be worth getting that, but I think that the original
OGV files weren't better resolution, and those MP4 became the original
after the google video migration.

I'd say get "18" as that seems to be the original.

I had not tried yet and not that I did I see that these the first one
is not available. Can you check whether it has a different visibility
than the other ones?

Here are the available formats for the second one:
format code extension resolution note
139 m4aaudio only DASH audio 50k , m4a_dash
container, mp4a.40.5@ 48k (22050Hz), 13.72MiB
140 m4aaudio only DASH audio 130k , m4a_dash
container, mp4a.40.2@128k (44100Hz), 36.65MiB
160 mp4192x144DASH video 120k , avc1.4d400c,
15fps, video only, 32.45MiB
133 mp4320x240DASH video 263k , avc1.4d400d,
25fps, video only, 72.04MiB
17 3gp176x144small , mp4v.20.3, mp4a.40.2@ 24k
36 3gp320x240small , mp4v.20.3, mp4a.40.2
18 mp4384x288small , avc1.42001E, mp4a.40.2@ 96k
43 webm 640x360medium , vp8.0, vorbis@128k (best)

So I could get 43 (a 60MB file) which seems transcoded or 133+140
(110MB) which is a smaller resolution. Which one do you suggest I
should get?

I'm afraid not. Most of those were migrated from Google Video to
YouTube, losing their original OGV format.

The "Download as MP4" contextual menu item will download files that are
about 100 megs in size. Is that better than what you were able to
download?

Yeah, we can do that. I got access to our account as well in the
meantime, so I’ll give a hand. Do you know if I can get a better
format than what I’d get from whatever youtube-dl will give as “best”?
I.e. if you login to your channel, do you have access to a better, non
reencoded version?

Cheers.

I still have a couple of videos that seem to have been stuck in my
YouTube account for one reason or another:
https://youtu.be/YYvdxUEfFYA
https://youtu.be/-6bcKbCnzE8
https://youtu.be/xyYC3r3sUoU

Can you download and reupload those as well?

I'm afraid I don't have the originals anymore...

It is all CC-BY-SA 3.0. But that is incompatible with CC-BY 3.0 which
youtube uses, so I am not going to mark them as CC (it is obvious from
the videos as it is shown at the start of each).

Anyway, all 19 videos are now on the GUADEC channel. I tried to put in
the correct date where available, but couldn't find it for two of the
talks.

https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLkmRdYgttscGHGmHn0M4U3rRA7q-nQ2OU

I did double check that the title/description is all there, so I think
everything should be good.

Main thing missing are the two videos that you still have.

Thanks for finding the mail. It does look like some or all of the
videos have a license rendered into them. So I guess I'll have a look
at each and see if that is consistent.

I have no idea what the license would be, though we mentioned it in:
http://markmail.org/message/26vibfspmibdakvc#query:+page:1+mid:jo4aa5nrrioh3hjf+state:results

CC-NC-BYSA would probably be the go-to license nowadays.

Thanks. It's likely going to be better than the decoded/encoded twice

Aiden might have them as well, but, well, we were in the early days of

I am uploading them again right now. Will need some time to copy all
the metadata so please keep them available for now.

Do you remember the license so that they can be correctly tagged? Or
should they remain non-free/"Standard Youtube License"?

Pinged on #sysadmin, lets see if someone knows what happens.

What is the simplest solution? The easiest might be if I give you the
password for the guadec youtube account. Or I can upload them if you
make them available to me somewhere.

GUADEC 2007 videos

2017-06-13 Thread Bastien Nocera
Hey,

I'm trying to straighten out some old video storage. A few of the
videos recorded for GUADEC 2007 in Birmingham are still available at:
https://www.youtube.com/hadessuk

All the video links on the slides page are dead:
https://wiki.gnome.org/GUADEC/2007/Slides

And I still have 2 talks for which the videos were uploaded.

Would it be possible for:
- the GUADEC YouTube channel to download all the talks on my account
and reupload them in a nice playlist?
- the Engagement and FTP teams to look into where those videos
disappeared
- somebody to tell me where I should upload the 2 videos I still have
here (a talk from Jon and another from me).

I don't have any "original" files any more. All those videos were on
Google Videos at the time...

Cheers
