I've tested and used Firefox on Android to access the mobile site.
Native notifications work fine, and you can add this to your home
screen. It works perfectly well and is probably the preferred method
for use on mobile.

Luckily, email interaction with Discourse continues to work fine,
should you wish to use it that way:

I just open the page in the browser and on mobile it works completely fine.

Re: Moving Engagement List to Discourse

After investingating Discourse esterday, I do have some objections
that I think should be considered. Though the software itself is free,
the mobile app is proprietrary and the Android version has a hard
dependency
on the proprietary Google Chrome app. I don't think we should force
developers to

use proprietary applications for out official communication channels.

Mailing lists do not have this problem because there are many free
software

e-mail clients.

The GTK team are moving to discourse and I asked Neil if he could move
us as well. Mailman is a sad anachronistic technology to be sent to
the garbage bin. As well, maintenance is a pain because of all the
spam. Moving to discourse has proven to improve discussions by those
who have moved from it.

If you have objections, please speak up. You can still interact by
mail like you could previously so you won't see too much change. But
I

hope we will have good experience by being to have more and better
conversations.

If you have no objection, say nothing and I'll work on moving us out
as

soon as GTK gets finished. I'll move the rest of the engagement like
lists that I manage as well.

be more polite to do a bulk invite rather than subscribe... thoughts?

The SSO module that comes with Discourse actually replaces the
functionality to use Discourse's login system, and thus the ability to
sign up with any other method. Fortunately, a plugin can be written to
support GNOME's SSO, and by the looks of things it's fairly trivial[0].

My very own totally unscientific opinion is that hyperkitty is meh
while Discourse is actually quite awesome (and I’ve always said I
hated webforums prior to using Discourse). I had a look at the
discussion over at the gtk-devel mailing list and I found some more
scientific evidence in

I'm assume we're hosting our own instance?

Awesome. Will subscriptions be moved automatically? Can we use our
GNOME account to log in to the Discourse instance?

I don't object, but I'd like to note that Mailman 3 meant to bring a Web
interface if that's what you're after.

Exciting! I've only tried Discourse fleetingly, and am interested to
see how it will work out for us.

Moving Engagement List to Discourse

2019-02-07 Thread sri
I brought this up in Telegram but didn't receive any objections.

But I
hope we will have good experience by being to have more and better
conversations.

If you have no objection, say nothing and I'll work on moving us out as
soon as GTK gets finished. I'll move the rest of the engagement like
lists that I manage as well.

Cheers,
sri
