Re: [Enigmail] no matching private/secret key found to decrypt message
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA256 Hi Stanley, the information provided does not suffice to pinpoint the issue. Did you generate that key in one go or generate it on one device and modify it on another (like adding the subkey). I ask because merging secret keys is NOT supported by GnuPG up to and including 2.0.x. Did you generate it on Android or on your PC? How? (I ask because trust settings might be the culprit.) Did you select the SPECIFIC key in Account Settings -> OpenPGP (or is it set to autoselect, the default)? Did you enable expert settings (in Enigmail-Preferences) which enhances your Enigmail menu and look at console output or the error log notice anything unecpected? What exact GnuPG version do you use (you may issue 'gpg --version' at the command line). Re: [Enigmail] no matching private/secret key found to decrypt message
Thanks Olav. * I generated the master key and subkey "separately", on APG of my Android device. * Yes, I "specified" my master key ID in Enigmail for signing and encryption. * Yes, I enabled expert settings. * I'm using Gpg4win 2.3.0 Thanks. Re: [Enigmail] no matching private/secret key found to decrypt message
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA512 I said "separately" means I first created a master key "without" subkey and made it sign+encrypt. After I realized it might not work in some cases, then I go back to APG and "add" a subkey to it. I then tagged the master key just for signingx and the newly created subkey just for encrypting. After these steps I imported the amended key. - -- Stanley Chen - Original Message From: Olav SeyfarthSent: 2015年12月14日 GMT+08:00下午3時14分36秒 To: Enigmail user discussion list Subject: Re: [Enigmail] no matching private/secret key found to decrypt message Hi Stanley, > I generated the master key and subkey "separately" using APG I assume that you sign with your main key (which works in Enigmail) and encrypt-to/decrypt with your subkey (which doesn't). Since APG works, key properties should be fine. But what do you mean with separately? You did generate them in one go, yes? So, first the main key, then the subkey, then maybe tweaked some settings and only after finishing everything you exported the whole private and public key to import those files on your PC. You did not generate the main key on one device (A) and the subkey on another (B) (which would cause issues if not deleted and reimported on A). Did you check the key on your PC using "gpg --edit-key " from the command line that if is complete, has the expected properties and trust?
