Re: [E-devel] E16 - problem with composite and gnome 2.12
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 Kim Woelders a écrit : The change is definitely in gnome. Something has changed in the way certain pop-up (override-redirect) windows are handled. The problem is a combination of how the e16 composite manager handles override-redirect windows, how they are handled by the application/toolkit in question, and how the X-server handles composite redirection of windows. I think the chain of events is: 1) Application maps pop-up window 2) e16 detects that and does composite redirection of the pop-up window. 3) The server does unmap, redirect, map 4) The application detects the unmap and decides that the window should be destroyed. My guess is that the change is in 4), and that gnome 2.10 did not destroy the window on unmap. One partial workaround is to disable e16's composite redirection of override-redirect windows: $ eesh set compmgr.override_redirect.mode 0 This removes steps 2-4) and makes the pop-up windows usable. However, there is a bug in the e16 composite manager causing rendering over the unredirected pop-up windows if the window content below changes. I intend to fix that before too long. Thanks, It works (sort of). If the focus change makes the windows change, then the pop-up disappear. I haven't tried it, but I think the problem will be solved in the next xorg server version (I believe the fix is in CVS), where the server no longer generates unmap/map events around the composite redirection in step 3), and step 4) will not occur. Great :) I'll search and see if I can test the CVS or apply a patch. - -- Clément 'nodens' Hermann - - L'air pur ? c'est pas en RL, ça ? c'est pas hors charte ? [E-devel] engrave is too noisy for e17genmenu.
Engrave currently has edje_cc -v hard coded into it, which outputs way too much information while generating hundreds of eaps from the new e17genmenu. Engrave is currently used by exhibit, eapp_edit, and e17setroot as well as e17genmenu. Would anybody object if I either remove the -v, or make it configurable? By configurable, I mean it will default to it's current behaviour, but if you call some new function, it will not pass -v when you eventually trigger the execution of edje_cc. pgpJL3JVS2FLG.pgp Description: PGP signature

Might be a good fit as this is also a Debian based distro and they provide a live CD as well. The system is not perfect... im just not totally satisfied i search the perfection of the system (also if this is imposible, i try to found it), but in reality the system is very good, is based on morphix, and diference to distros based on knoppix (i don't know how to works actually knoppix), morphix is modular, in another words, the liveCD system and your system are 2 totally diferents things, then all the special things needed for the liveCD system not is involved with the main system, the thing of you install in the hard disk is the main system (created from a debootstrap of debian and a lot of automatized customizations and packages installed), with the configuration autodetected by the liveCD system. The result not is bad, and in another words is very good... but not is perfect. I don't know the ideas of Ebuntu, but not is a Debian based system, is a Ubuntu based system. Ebuntu is a diferent project, this is not my idea, my idea is to give a fully debian and totally compatible debian system, customized but Debian, for example in Elive, you have the repositories of Debian and Elive enabled by default, when you upgrade the system, you upgrade Debian in the same time to Elive without problems. Elive has only enlightenment for destkops, e16 and e17. I don't want to exit from the Debian system.

Re: [E-devel] The new menu generator is ready for testing, again.
Let's try this again, with a new, much simpler test procedure. Update from cvs, if from anon cvs, wait about four hours for my changes to get copied there. Make sure that you install e_utils, and all it's dependencies. Backup your ~/.e/e/applications/favorite and ~/.e/e/applications/all, just to be on the safe side. Run e17genmenu. The adventurous could try e17genmenu -o. After that has finished running, E will by unresponsive for a few minutes. This is a known issue with the eap cache regeneration. Send me the last line that is output (the one with the timing stats) and let me know what distro and CPU speed you tested it on. This will generate E17 menus based on whatever freedesktop.org menus you have installed in your system. It should find all the things that are supposed to be in your fdo menus. Not everything will have a proper icon. Also, not all the re arranging, categorising, and deletions/hiding is being done properly yet. There are still a few big parts of the fdo menu spec that I haven't written code for yet. The converted fdo menus will be under Converted Menus, while the usual e17genmenu generated menus will be under Generated Menus, your favorites should still be there. If there are major parts of your fdo menus that have not been found, please find out what directories the .desktop files are in and let me know what they are. Same applies if there are .menu files being ignored. pgpz5npeaaDFz.pgp Description: PGP signature
