IMHO, it's bad to name tarball 'e_dbus-1.7.9.tar.bz2' (here for e_dbus
exemple). Think about google bot and other crawlers that will put in
 the
first result 'e_dbus-1.7.9.tar.bz2' corresponding to the pre-release
directory, and this even when release will happenning, people will not
 see pre-releases subdirectory at first.

Also, it may lead to misunderstood from people that will already have
 a
file named e_dbus-1.7.9.tar.bz2 in their directory.

Naming them e_dbus-1.7.9_pre1.Tar.bz2 in preferable or anything else
that is not the final tarball name.

From what I can remember, we do need some API like this, or at least
some way to detect the genlist item geometry. At least from my
previous experience, every time that we needed something like this, we
were doing a workaround for the problem that there was no such way to
fetch that geometry.

Adding things to the genlist item theme might work in some (most?)
situations, and should be preferred when possible. But sometimes you
just need to position some other object relative to the genlist item
position, not necessarily inside the genlist. I don't believe that
changing the genlist item theme will solve all the problems, not even
that will be the cleaner / most elegant solution. Saying that seems to
me much like arguing that using "goto" in C is bad.

On the other hand, this API might, and probably will, get abused, and
things that could be done entirely in the genlist item theme will be
done externally. So it would be good to enforce when it's case that we
really need to use it.

Regarding the API added by Hermet, I would have to try and write some
code that uses it, have bugs, etc, before having a strong opinion in
favor of or against it, but I'm glad that this was proposed.

PS: I'm not against adding this API, or even the old (object_get) one,
I was just against the fact that it was first removed after some
discussion, and then added back again.

+1 to this argument. However, remember that Elementary is probably our
biggest example of library that got lots of unnecessary APIs / widgets
added, and the first thing that comes to mind when a new API is added
to it is: "Oh, is this really needed?"

Author: Stefan Schmidt

mailmaip: Add .mailmap file to fixup various git author entries.

This is an attempt to unify the various spellings and email addresses people
use in the git author line. This simple matching rules clean these up and
show
them as one single author. Which in turn makes statistics with e.g. git
shortlog much nicer.

I only fixed these up for the top 50 committer in efl. If your entry is

Yes, you see my problem. So for the moment it is not a virtual
function. The think is that right now we do have many children list:
one in Eo, one in Evas smart object, one in Evas Box object, one in
Evas Table object and one in Elm object(Actually Edje also has one,
but a little bit different). Now I am trying to find where they do
match and it is clearly not obvious :-(

> I see what you're trying to do, but I don't know if the naming is correct.

Open to better idea here. Also I have been looking at adding events on
child ADD and DEL, but it is going to be complex. As the children are
part of eo.c and not of the base class, I can't be sure that it is
actually an object that have an event infrastructure. There is I think
two possibility.

- Make eo.c check the type of the object and dispatch an event if it
is an object inherited from eo base class.
- Move the parent code handling into eo base class.

Any though on that subject also ?
