KDE likes to do things their own way and not follow the standards too
closely. On the other hand, the system tray spec and conformance to it
leave a lot to be desired. Raster is currently proposing a much better
spec to the powers that be. He is getting a warm welcome, so only time
well tell if this current mess gets sorted out.

On a related note, when I launch itray I have a black square in the
itray by default.

Any ideas what this is / how to get rid of it?

Thanks and regards,

Gavin.

because kde sucks at following draft standards.

Thanks, I've not heard back from them, but I'll give them to the end of
the week. If I've not heard anything by then I'll drop you a line and
we'll see if we can get things moving.

Thanks again.

Well, I've not seen much response regarding me contacting Monarch.
Is there an objection? Should I take the silence as a
recommendation for or against? I'm not sure who would be the one
to make this 'decision.'

Just the same, I sent an email message to the marketing folks at
Monarch to see what the might have to say.

I would say give them a ping and see - there's more than one thing in
the pipe atm. i'm aqctually TRYING to write code for once - but it
seems that the moment i try - people get antsy that i dont do my
email! :)

Well I would much rather you write code. :) Ping of Monarch has gone out.

send a ping and see. ben has sent off a ping to another hw vendor to
see if they will want to sponsor us with freebie servers as well - so
i'm waiting on the results of tyring to get freebies before moving
any more towards buying our own.

I just put my brain in gear and realized I'll be out Monarch's way
tomorrow and Thursday. I think I'll stop. A face to face might be
better then a forgotten email..

[e-users] extrackt questions..

2006-02-07 Thread Morten Nilsen

so, I looked around the interface a bit, and it looks quite good..

however..

I don't see any obvious mention of how to tell oggenc artist/album/title
etc. I did find one id3 tab, but that's for mp3s..
I guess extrackt could be adding -t/-l/-a/etc. behind the scenes, but I
don't trust that is the case right off the bat ;)

also, there seems to be a minor issue with tabs.. when I enter another
tab (like prefs) all the sub-tabs are blank until clicked..

Nice bit of work there :)

[e-users] e16 pager size location in different display mode

2006-02-07 Thread Dennis Nezic
with my current e16.8 (current to 2006/01/24), when i startx using a
non-native resolution (native being 1280x800 ... problem case being
640x480, for example), the pager window gets resized (enlarged) a bit
(320x48 to 352x56, for example), and moved a bit (up one pixel [0,609]
to [0,608], for example) ... and thus the bottom few pixels of it are
cut off. it's very annoying because i keep on having to resize and
remove it to my desired size/height. normally loading x/e in native
resolution works fine, and e doesn't crazily decide to fiddle with the
pager settings. arrgh.
