[e-users] NOTICE: svn feature freeze this weekend (April 17-19)
Hello all, As discussed in previous threads we will try to stabilize the SVN so packagers can do their work on a more solid base. So let's try to make the SVN more stable during this week and let's stop doing new feature during this weekend, doing bug fixes and testing instead. DEVELOPERS: If you have a massive change that would change all the repository and is still untested, please wait until next Monday or do it as a compile/runtime time option and leave it disabled until Monday. If possible, take a look at Active Tickets (http://trac.enlightenment.org/e/report/1) and validate (close if now invalid!) or try to fix a couple of them. Running valgrind, gdb and memprof are good things to do this week ;-) Thursday night I'll commit a FEATURE-LOCKED to svn trunk and we expect that after that commit we just do fixes. Sunday night I'll remove that file and that commit will be tagged in SVN. Packagers will build on that tag. USERS: Please update your SVN checkouts and try to update daily and report issues to mail list and also as tickets. We want to know what is broken so we can fix it, bear in mind that developers do not use all existent options and combination of them, so corner cases may show here and there. REPORT! If you want to help with development but have no coding skills, please go toActive Tickets and try to reproduce problems, if not possible ask the reporter to check it again and if not reproducible anymore to close the ticket. Willing to help testing? You can do: - compare expedite benchmarks on the same system, tell us if you see regressions. - check memory usage. - check if dialogs work properly. - create a dummy user and start with a clean profile, try to configure the system the way you want, see if it's possible (good way to test if dialogs work properly). Regards! hi guys, guess it'd be nice to have some king of a visual page/table to trace the current status of various components (as we used to have some times ago with a nightly builds). that would help, yes, but I'm not setting up the build bots. If anyone can help please say. below are some minor issues we're all aware about (E-svn-r39992): 1) some of E-MODULES-EXTRA are broken/(doesn't work or could crash E): language (ticket 154) mail (some times ago it could check remote MBoxes via POP/IMAP - now only manual ping activates the option Start Program When New Mail Arrives) news - segfault on a new feed configuration, suck with Atom feeds I do not use them, does anyone use/maintain them? If not, let's move it to BROKEN. bling - can be the reason of E segv. which one? I'm using bling but never traced crashes to it. connection manager/exalt - both are doesn't work or at least no manuals how to set them up are available. connman = using old api, need to update GUI to use new backend in e_dbus. I'll do this at some point, but not now. Packagers can disable this module with: --disable-connman, BTW I'll disable it by default. 2) we may note that external toolkits are out of the scope but still UTF-8 issues are in (despite on fonts replacement from Vera* to DejaVu* family). yes, esmart_text_test is finally o'k for utf-8, but still no support for SCIM (though the is base already included and works somehow). the majority of EFL applications (which are not broken and at least could be compiled from svn) are use ETK where UTF-8 is absent in fields like Multi-line text widget. just try estickies or etk_prefs. (is it 'unsigned char' issue?!) nobody maintaining etk these days I'd say :-( 3) our new default theme (BW) still has some minor issues. most annoying one is the way iBar and iBox look like when they're set in Plain appearance and options Autoscroll contents + Able to be resized are activated (yep, i do have up to 40-50 launchers and i do like to scroll'em all instead of asking about stupid group similar etc.). good to know, raster or toma know more about this than I do, but I can try to look at it later. the rest are mostly enhancements: http://trac.enlightenment.org/e/query?status=assignedstatus=closedstatus=newstatus=reopenedreporter=~sdaorder=prioritycol=idcol=summarycol=statuscol=ownercol=typecol=prioritycol=milestone sda: will you join the packaging force to update on monday? quaker and others were talking at #edevelop about having repository.enlightenment.org, seems we need raster's approval to have that. -- Gustavo Sverzut Barbieri http://profusion.mobi embedded systems -- MSN: barbi...@gmail.com Skype: gsbarbieri Mobile: +55 (19) 9225-2202 -- This SF.net email is sponsored by: High Quality Requirements in a Collaborative Environment. I can never remember if we do top adds or bottoms adds on this list. Either way, I have now officially broken the standards. Anyway, I spent about three hours this weekend figuring it out. I had the same error message and was strongly motivated (e17 wouldn't start and I don't have any other window managers installed) to fix it. As soon as I realized there was a libfribidi, it was just a matter of backtracking versions until I found one that defined the missing function. Mik -- I am all that is bad, all that is evil. [e-users] New trac theme
Hi all I have done a theme to use with trac, it is based on the last mockup I found for the e-website. You can see a testing version I have set up at: http://www.gurumeditation.it:8000/trac/ If you like it I will going to do the same for the E content manager. To have a consistent look. [e-users] exhibit fails to build with easy_e17.sh
Resolved my wpa_supplicant and libfribidi issues, now I receive the following errors when attempting to build exhibit: /opt/e17/lib/libengrave.so: undefined reference to `evas_list_append' /opt/e17/lib/libengrave.so: undefined reference to `evas_list_data' /opt/e17/lib/libengrave.so: undefined reference to `evas_list_remove' /opt/e17/lib/libengrave.so: undefined reference to `evas_list_count' /opt/e17/lib/libengrave.so: undefined reference to `evas_list_nth' /opt/e17/lib/libengrave.so: undefined reference to `evas_list_free' /opt/e17/lib/libengrave.so: undefined reference to `evas_list_last' suggestions anyone? For now I've skipped it, but would like to get it to compile. I've found a few references to these errors via google, but the only solution suggested was to skip exhibit. -- Until later, Geoffrey Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety. - Benjamin Franklin -- This SF.net email is sponsored by: High Quality Requirements in a Collaborative Environment. I like it, any chance you can finish the mockup for the current revision of the site tooo?
