[e-users] How to disable Desktop flipping

2011-02-25 Thread Harry
Hello World,

Yet another setting I don't know how to rescue over from E16.999 to E17.
I want to disable the Desktop flipping, that happens every time the cursor
reaches the edge of the screen.
That truly annoys me, but I don't know how to stop that in E17.

Any help appreciated.

Regards
   D.D.

[e-users] E16 icon box and pager screenshot problem after debian squeeze upgrade

2011-02-25 Thread Andrew K. Bressen

I upgraded my Debian system to the new release, Squeeze, and
Enlightenment started having a problem.

Sound familiar? Am I missing an X extension or something?

I truly miss my beatifull E16.999 menu structure, sniff :-(

Well, E now (for quite some time, where you been) adheres to some
FreeDesktop standards for menu generation. We do have a gui menu
editor, but you would not be the first to swing by and state it needs a
little love. I think it works well for some, not so well for others.

Once upon a time... I wrote a bit of a cheat sheet to help me setup my
own menus (as I prefer to do them by hand as well). I can't garuntee it
is still even remotely correct, but feel free to read over it and if it
helps... good.

There are also some distro specific tips at the bottom to help people
along the way.

Re: [e-users] Enki issues

2011-02-25 Thread Wido
Glad to hear Enki is plugable, but I understand that time is a bitch =)

However, I'm seing another 2 errors in Enki.
Let me explain about the first one. When I start a library, it scans mi images
directory. It has around 14,630 different images, and over 100 subidrs. It does
a great job scanning it, considering I have an old athlon. The problem is that
the next time I open the library, Enki re-scan all my files and I end up having
all my albums duplicated. Why is happening this?

The second error, I don't know exactly when, but Enki overlaps most of the
images and albums. Sometimes (nerby the end and less that %50 zoom) it doesn't,
but if I'm at the beggining of the collection, it overlaps everything

  Thanks for the answers

Too bad for flickrI use gwenview and it has kipi support, which syncs
with differnt services (such as flickr) and that's preety cool, would be
nice to have something plugable as well in enki

  2011/2/24 Atton Jonathan jonathan.at...@gmail.com

The flickr support is removed. Enki will have a new network synchronisation
  support.

Flickr is hard to use if you wish to do something complete : a lot of
request is needed and it is slow.

  2011/2/24 Wido wido...@gmail.com

I'm having two problems while trying to use Enki. Well, actually, one is
  already solved

  First one is this error:
  ERR18181:ethumb_client Ethumb_Client.c:186
  __dbus_callback_check_and_init()
  Ethumb_Client.c:363:_ethumb_client_start_server_cb() callback without
  message arguments!
  ERR18181:ethumb_client Ethumb_Client.c:191

  by server: name=org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.ServiceUnknown, message=The
name org.enlightenment.Ethumb was not provided by any .service files
  ERR18181:ethumb_client Ethumb_Client.c:400

  its
  name.
  CRI18181:Enlil thumb.c:159 _thumb_connect_cb() CAN not connect to
  ethumb

I've noticed this part The name org.enlightenment.Ethumb was not
provided by any .service files, so I googled it and I found the
  solution. I
have the file 'org.enlightenment.Ethumb.service' installed in
  /opt/e17/share/dbus-1/services/org.enlightenment.Ethumb.service. All it
needed was a symlink into /usr/share/dbus-1/services.

The question would be how to have that working withouth touching
  anything, maybe missing env vars?

the second error message is this:
ERR19977:Enlil flickr.c:714 _job_next() Flickr support is not built

Am I missing something? which lib do I need for flickr suppor, as I don't
  see that when compiling it

  cheers!

0.16.7.2??? That is six years and 24 releases ago? Even oldstable is on
0.16.8.13.

Unfortunately I cannot even recommend you to update to the current debian
stable version (1.0.0) because they completely messed up the e16 package
installation, after which the package was orphaned.

See also http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=567770

So, if you want e16 on debian these days the only sane option is to
download a shiny new e16-1.0.7 and build/install.

If you actually really do want to try to make 0.16.7.2 run on your box you
could try disabling the shm extension.
