[e-users] doing an upgrade just trashed e

2014-02-24 Thread Christopher Barry
Greetings,

I'm running jessie (sid) and I just did an upgrade, and now e won't
load at all. I moved .e, still same behavior. lightdm loads up, I log
in, the dm goes away and e starts loading. The splash never shows, the
screens (I have 3 monitors) flash a bit and it falls right back to the
dm. I've been up all night trying to fix it. Luckily my laptop is
functional...

 Also installed fine.

[e-users] How to start e18 on a minimalist debian jessie ?

2014-02-24 Thread Pierre Couderc
I have successfully compiled enlightenment 0.18.4 on a very minimalistic
linux system : there is only what was necessary to compile it. (I have
chosen enlightenment for minimalism and beauty).
Now the point is how to start it ? I am lost in docs that are neither on
the old wiki neither on the new wiki.
I suppose X11 may be useful too ?
Thank you,
PC

2014-02-24 Thread Will Hopper
if you don't use a login manager, you can start it by adding the line to
your ~/.xinitrc file

exec enlightenment_start

and using the startx command after you login. If you look at the end of the
output from compiling and installing enlightenment, there is a little
paragraph recommending other parameters to set in the ~/.xinitrc file.

  # apt-get install libevas1-engine-software-x11

which in fact needed to be installed, and that pulled in a bunch of
  other stuff as well.

Then I re-ran apt-cache, but it looked the same. So I stepped through

  # apt-get install libedje-bin

  Whoo-Friggin-Hoo!!!

THAT was stressful - I have work to do! :)

NO IDEA why the package did not pull that stuff in right. I added the e

That's weird. I can't really see why something like that would happen.
You shouldn't have been able to keep the e17 package if one the
 dependencies was missing...

Re: [e-users] How to start e18 on a minimalist debian jessie ?

2014-02-24 Thread Will Hopper
what did you build it with? if you used a script like easy_e17 you wont see
it on stdout. If you did it 'by hand' if you will, it will show up after
building enlightenment (not efl or elementary). its pretty short, easy to
miss.

if you don't use a login manager, you can start it by adding the line to

 the
output from compiling and installing enlightenment, there is a little
paragraph recommending other parameters to set in the ~/.xinitrc file.

[e-users] Problems in e18 with ubuntu 13.10

2014-02-24 Thread succer110

Hi everybody!
I'm really new to e18 (just a couple of days) but I'm
experiencing a few problems.

1) The screen lock, when a wrong password
is prompted, lock completely (and I have to restart e18).

2)In the
menu (both when i click on the desktop ad in the dock) I can navigate
the submenu and select the element only in two cases:

- when I pass
the mouse on the correspective icon (if any - like for choosing
operation mode between offline and presentation)

- if I use the
directional arrows.

I remember that the first hours of gameplay I
could pass the mouse and select the submenu even on the text.

How can
i fix or debug this?

Thank you!

[e-users] E17\18 on tablet

2014-02-24 Thread William
So I am aware that E can run on a tablet, and I have seen the tablet
interface, but where can I find a guide to installing E on a tablet? If
I could have a fully functional ARM based Linux installation with
Enlightenment, I could finally justify purchasing a tablet. It would be
immensely useful and sub $100 tablets easily meet the specs needed. Can
someone point me in the right direction?

Thanks,

William

Re: [e-users] Elightenment 0.17 final release to FreeBSD Ports

2014-02-24 Thread Robert David
Hi Su,

I created updated makefiles for efl, elementary, enlightenment to install
e18. They are still not complete so I did not submit patches.

I attached tar with them. You will have to install dependencies before
using these makefiles. Since there are not dependency definitions now.

If you find something new, or update just let me know. Im using these
for e0.18.3 and it works.

Only thing I got with e17/18 is occassional PAUSE (segfault), did not
find solution to that yet.

Regards,
Robert.
