stephen is right. it's far more than just for launching apps. its a
panel/bar/whatever thing for a bunch of "desktop control gadgets" that you'd
commonly use to control your desktop environment (or see its status).

I guess we all work in different ways. Apart from checking the battery
level or the I/O, I would rarely use the gadgets. But I launch
applications a lot.

I rebooted and it's fine. I don't trust Dell hardware any more.

I didn't change it as far as I remember. Same with temp. I'll make sure
they are working right. They are currently being converted to sandbox.

Netstatus should be telling you the b/kb/mb. It is here. Automatic maximums
means that it checks every value in real time replacing the maximum if a
new value is higher than the old maximum value.

So it's a relative percentage ^^

Anyway, the same thing applies even to netstatus, which esposes
send/receive values as percentage. Oddly, if I set it to use automatic
maximums I don't even know to what maximum value the percentage actually
refers.

I think it would be better to use B/KB/MB for the value and use
percentage only to draw the bar, even if one sets maximums to a fixed value.

i just want to make it clear what ticked me off here. the above email sounds
like the "support call center" or a generic "corporate PR person". laying down
a platitude of "valuable feedback" but not actually addressing it (because
mostly these representatives are not technical staff and simply cannot).
after YEARS of me explaining both to users and to developers who joined
e/efl why the model is "single process" (as much as possible). the reason i
get ticked off is that mike should know better and he's pretending not to or
actively choosing not to.

it's showing a level of detachment and "us vs them" and it screamed to me "you
are an outsider" especially with phrases like "if you have feedback for the
developer team" keeping it as distant and anonymous as possible. it didn't
even address the issue i brought up - either disagreed and gave points, nor
address the alternative directions i suggested and stuck to a call-center like
content.

that is what ticked me off. it wasn't civil. it was cloaked in a veil of
civility but the actual message came off exactly as i described. just being
clear. it seems i'm not the only one to see that message in this email.
