 Alt-Backspace gives ^H (which is Control-Backspace with
 urxvt/gnome-terminal/VT).

Is this on purpose, can I change that, or shall I report an issue?

This was a bug. I've committed a fix about it.

I just updated my copy of terminology and the bug is fixed. Thanks!

You may want to toggle the parameter 'BackArrow sends Del (instead of
BackSpace)' in the settings under the Behavior tab. The default
config works with the terminfo files for xterm that upstream
provides. If you are using old versions or your distro patches them,
then you need to change that setting.

I don't have xterm installed but it seems all the files under
/usr/share/terminfo/ are provided by ncurses 5.9. Anyway, glad that it
works now. Thanks a lot for the quick fix.

[e-users] Terminology: box instead of hollow cursor in active window

2014-09-27 Thread Tassilo Horn
Hi all,

by default, the cursor in terminology is a hollow box. When you have
several terminals on one screen (and use tiling without title bars), the
only indication of the active one (i.e., the one with input focus) is
that the cursor flashes every few seconds. That's too few indication
for me. Is there a way to get a filled box cursor in the active
terminology window?

If that's not doable, other suggestions for making the active window a
bit more prominent are also welcome.

Hi Gary,

I too have had some problems with icon display in the system tray.
I've found that sometimes on new boots the tray will expand with apps
but will not have any icons visible.

Same here.

A quick fix for me is to restart E, they all become visible then.

Not always for me but at least sometimes.

I've also had the case where the tray doesn't expand with apps, I
fixed that condition by enabling Xembed in the system tray settings,
then if the tray expands but there are no icons visible restart E.

Yes, exactly as it's here.

Hi Alex,

It most certainly sounds like a bug.

Thought so.

I am not home to test and reproduce though (and this box does not run
 E19), is it always reproducible?

Yes, absolutely. I just have to stack my virtual desktops vertically
and instantly tiling is gone for any VD except 0-0.

is it reproducible with a clean config (clean everything except the
 vertical VDs obviously)?

I guess so but didn't test. But I don't think my other configs like key
bindings, keyboard layout and stuff should interfere with it.

if the last 2 questions are a no then it most likely is a bug in your
end but i never tried it that way so i can't really be sure, do open a
ticket for it if it's a persistent issue. :/

I'll do.

How would I know what I'm using here? I didn't fiddle with Intel driver

The default is sna. If you want to try uxa, check this page
 https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Intel_graphics#SNA_issues.

I tried both UXA and also glamor without any visible effect. The icons
still didn't appear. There's already a bug tracker issue for this
problem:

  https://phab.enlightenment.org/T730

That mentions that the icons appear when the shelve is set to invisible.
Indeed, that works around the problem here but I don't like the
invisible style.

[e-users] Only first virtual desktop uses tiling

2014-09-20 Thread Tassilo Horn
Hi all,

I've just started using E19 and I like it. I use the tiling profile.
However, only the first virtual desktop actually tiles. On every other
desktop windows start in floating mode and there's no way to tile them.
(They have [ ] at the Floating window menu entry, so not the
individual windows are set floating but the complete desktop is.)

I just noticed that after configuring E19 to my likings, so maybe that
behavior is caused by my configuration. (I changed the default of 4
virtual desktops side-by-side to 4 desktops on top of each other, if
that makes a difference...)

Any help is very welcome!

That's indeed a culprit. When arranging my virtual desktops again to

other), all use tiling again.

Is that a bug?

Have you tried right-clicking on the systray area, the go to
 Systray/Settings/ and enable xembed.

I've done that, and still the icons are not shown. But in the meantime
(with xembed enabled) sometimes an icon showed up but was scaled and
stretched a bit weired. But at the moment, there are no icons again.
When hovering with the mouse over the systray, I get a Hangouts and a
Google Chrome text popup, so two systray items are actually there, just
not their icons...

[e-users] E19 and multiple Xrandr outputs

2014-09-20 Thread Tassilo Horn
Hi,

I have some questions concerning E19 with multiple outputs (in Xrandr
parlance), i.e., I have my laptop LCD and an external LCD attached.

1. How can I configure my shelve so that it is always displayed on the
primary output? Whenever I use an external monitor, that's should be
the primary one and I'd prefer if the shelve was shown there instead
of the secondary output (the laptop LCD).

2. How can I move a window from one output to the other? I've tried the
To Next Screen/To Previous Screen actions in the Window: Moving
category of the Key Bindings but that doesn't work. I guess that's
probably for real X screens which nowadays nobody uses anymore...

3. Is there some Xrandr config tool for enlightenment? The Screen setup
settings don't work too well for me. Especially, I frequently have
to do presentations, and then a quick mirror outputs in the best
solution that's doable by the projector and my laptop LCD knob would
   be nice.

Thanks in advance,
Tassilo
