Funny, while I have seen lots of good things updating the translation,
the loss of the plain pager was what caught my eye as well. With the
plain pager it's possible to see a bit of where things are even with
the pager on a small shelf. Impossible with my typical wallpapers.

OK, to clarify a badly formed question on my part: What is the
difference between the leading and trailing slashes in the tab, if any?

The trailing slashes () appeared in E23. However I have just
noticed that some of the strings about gadget .desktop file errors now
appear with .

That is what I have seen in Mageia. The Qt applications (CopyQ, VLC,
Mageia update and network indicators) display their icons just fine,
while Gtk ones (Pidgin, tomboy-ng Gtk) simply show the triangle. The
tomboy-ng dev has tested both the Gtk and Qt versions in Mageia 7 with
E22.4 and confirmed that the Qt version DOES show the correct icon in
the systray, while the Gtk2 one shows only the triangle.

OK, I finally got back to the issue and playing with compositing
options did nothing, but restarting e did. So, will I just have to do
that as a work around or does that suggest something that can be done
so it will work out of the box?

One note: my Mga6 machine, where the program works with no problem is a
small laptop with just Intel graphics. My main Mga7 machine is an
nVidia Optimus laptop with the proprietary nVidia driver (which I have
needed in order to get edge bindings to work properly even with the
Intel on-board graphics as default).
