[e-users] adding modules

2007-11-27 Thread Geoffrey
When I try to add new modules via the menu, they don't show up in the
config menu. I successfully added wallpapers, but I've tried to add
mouse bindings and power, but they don't show in the menu.

Ideas?

They show up in the Configuration Panel

Maybe I'm confused. I can't locate a 'configuration panel.' I should
have noted this is E17 from cvs about a week ago. I can see:

configuration-
modules
wallpaper
shelves

wallpaper didn't show up until a selected 'modules' and selected to
'add' wallpaper configuration. I've done the same for mouse bindings
and power, but can't find anywhere to configure these. How does one get
to the 'configuration panel' you mention?

even the configuration panel is a module that you can load. (though
this should have been loaded by default if you start with a clean new
 installation)

Ah, that was it, thanks. Never had to do that before though...

some config modules add a menu entry to the config menu (for very commonly
accesses config dialogs). the others only add to the config panel. (modules is
always there. it's built-in). there is a configuration panel module. this
provides the config panel gui. you may want to add that. (note - if you start
with a fresh config for e - no existing config, all of this is already
 loaded).

This was likely the key, I was working from a previous config. Figured
out how to add the configuration panel module and now all is well.

Thanks muchly.

By the way, I had my laptop at the local Magnet High School the other
day and these brainy kids were freaking out over E.
