Re: [Mozilla Enterprise] Fwd: Stupidly Slow Firefox ESR (RJRiley.C)
I have long since left Firefox, and the recent ridiculous hype over V57 is nauseating.. Running on V52 I often (not intentionally) had 350 Tabs open and of course, it struggled, but I always had time to clean up and restore good operation.. On V57 it regularly crashes when I get beyond 60-70 and the response on this thread sums up the attitude of the 'Support' team. Do you actually have a Testing team?? [Mozilla Enterprise] Firefox ESR - High Memory Utilization
Hi Team, We are facing a major issue in our environment that Firefox ESR consuming very high memory in XenServers 7.6 &6.5 along with Win7&10 platforms. Currently we are running with ESR 52.6.0 in production, which is very slow and the high memory usage issue is not new it is occurring from ESR 45.9.0 version onwards and we do not find the exact solution to reduce the usage for memory. Workaround: We have disabled the " use hardware acceleration when available" via config file last week but not getting fruitful results Thanks and Regards, Ajay Kumar Kondru The information contained in this e-mail message may be privileged, confidential, and protected from disclosure. Re: [Mozilla Enterprise] Stupidly Slow Firefox ESR
Thanks for the agree and disagree follow-ups. We are mainly Mac OS X users here, with only a few Windows 10 and yes the Win10 seems OK, so it's the Mac OS X Firefox users that were having the most problems. We'll revert the Win10 users, but keep the Mac OS X users on the FireFox ESR v52.1.2 (64-bit) as that is working brilliantly for them. Since reverting back to FFesrV52.1.2 there has not been a single crash and all users have reported fast speed and nicely performing browsers (which are never closed, ie they run for weeks or months at a time - when Firefox stays up long enough as v52.1.2 allows again now. With FFesrv52.6.0 we were getting crashes every 1-2 days and between the crashes as time progresses they consume more memory and slow down even on the 64GByte 3,5GHz 6-core Xenon Macs. I do so hope the next ESR release can regain the reliability and speed of ESR v52.1.0 as we love that version. Otherwise we shall start exploring alternatives ready for the May deadline, it's a shame as most users are happy with FF when it runs fast enough and is stable and sing sensible memory. . enterprise-requ...@mozilla.org wrote: To unsubscribe via the web interface, visit https://mail.mozilla.org/listinfo/enterprise or, via email, send a message with a subject or body of 'unsubscribe' to enterprise-requ...@mozilla.org Send Enterprise mailing list submissions to enterprise@mozilla.org You can reach the person managing the list at enterprise-ow...@mozilla.org When replying, please edit your Subject line so it is more specific than "Re: Contents of Enterprise digest..." I have noticed that certain web sites cause this, one example is mlive.com, where just three concurrent web pages loaded would bring a 4th gen I7 with nearly a 8000 CPUBenchmark rating down. Problems with Firefox have become so frequent that I now rarely use it. I would appreciate feedback on why mlive.com is such a problem. I've noticed it myself for the entire 52 ESR line, and recall it being annoyingly slow, if usable in 45 on Windows 7 also... I.e. Firefox having a hanging UI randomly based on web page isn't anything new to me. Maybe, and I suspect it, the slowdowns are correlated to the infamous bug with safebrowsing doing excessive I/O operations. ___ Enterprise mailing list Enterprise@mozilla.org https://mail.mozilla.org/listinfo/enterprise To unsubscribe from this list, please visit https://mail.mozilla.org/listinfo/enterprise or send an email to enterprise-requ...@mozilla.org with a subject of "unsubscribe"
