In order to use the new Preferences in GPO, all old Preferences must be migrated to the new system. You can't mix and match. I'm updating the documentation to make that clear. Re: [Mozilla Enterprise] local domains seen as search engine words?
For clarification: If using Local Group policies GPO for FF-78.4.0esr, all settings in "Preferences (Deprecated)" must be removed, setting should be like 'not configured' ('Nicht konfiguriert' in German). Whole branch "Preferences (Deprecated)" must not be removed or must it be removed to get GPO settings working reliable? Thanks + regards, Chris > At last! Re: [Mozilla Enterprise] local domains seen as search engine words?
At last! The group policy was not working because there was a setting in the "Preferences (Deprecated)". You MUST remove all settings in this deprecated section, otherwise Firefox will ignore in the new "Preferences" section. Yes, I found it: https://nc.comune.trento.it/s/K3JMkyEg2BjNaNK but, when i go in Firefox, i could not find the new preference set in "about:config" p.s. using Firefox 78.4.0, latest ESR. Re: [Mozilla Enterprise] local domains seen as search engine words?
Are you setting any Preferences via the old policy? What do you see when you look at: Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Policies\Mozilla\Firefox In regedit? I'm seeing weirdness where sometimes policies don't take in GPEDIT and I have to edit other policies to make them take. Re: [Mozilla Enterprise] local domains seen as search engine words?
Hello Mike, I'm testing the preference. First, the locked value should be quoted, right? As the below: { "browser.fixup.dns_first_for_single_words": { "Value": true, "Status": "locked" } } I have done this: 1) entered in the "preferences" window in the Group Policy editor; 2) clicked on "Enabled" check 3) pasted the above text Unfortunately, neither in the Computer or User configuration, this preference is applied to my Firefox 78.4.0 ESR. I'm only deprecating the method of setting preferences that way (and it will still work for the foreseeable future) With the new Preferences method, you set that preference like this: { "browser.fixup.dns_first_for_single_words": { "Value": false, "Status": locked } } Mike On Wed, Oct 21, 2020 at 8:40 AM Luca Manganelli < luca.mangane...@comune.trento.it> wrote: > Hello, > > If I write in URL address: > > servername/service > > Firefox uses it as google search, not to go to that site directly. > > From the github of policy templates I have seen this in the DEPRECATED > section.
