Hello there,
We were recently packaging a different package in RHEL 9 (efs-utils) that lists
python-botocore as a dependency. As part of that process, we brought
python-botocore into RHEL 9. Packaging efs-utils in RHEL did not work out in
the end.
I'm looking to bring python-botocore back to EPEL (from CentOS Stream 9), but
as part of the packaging work, we needed to bump the version to 1.31.62, which
is newer than the existing 1.25.10 version in epel9.
This also requires moving boto3 and s3transfer to later versions as well. The
boto3 update is another incompatible change but s3transfer should not be
disruptive.
As discussed in today's meeting on Matrix, it makes more sense to move botocore
forward than to revert to the original version prior to the CentOS Stream 9 and
RHEL work.
