For their next hit, La-Z-Boy teams up with a well known venture
capital firm to produce the E-Kleiner. Run your own internet startup
without leaving your chair.

Available in three models:

The CEO. Leather. Power Black.$1299
The CFO. Leather. Sandhill Brown. $1249
The CTO. Vinyl. Geeky orange or Cadet Purple. $999

A business plan is an extra-cost option.

[EUG-LUG:351] Energy production and the Malthusian dieoff

2001-01-17 Thread Dexter Graphic

I just read in Tim's report that you were talking about energy
at last week's meeting (I was planning to attend but got called
on a repair job about 18:00 that evening.) Anyway, here is an
article on our energy prospects that just "kicks ass." -Dexter

"Petroleum geologists have known for 50 years that global oil
production would "peak" and begin its inevitable decline within
a decade of the year 2000. Moreover, no renewable energy
systems have the potential to generate more than a tiny fraction
of the power now being generated by fossil fuels. In short, the
end of oil signals the end of civilization, as we know it."

Bob brought in this little computer the size of a keyboard. Very nice

I once had a commodore 64 that looked like that. They say 'soon all pc's will look
like that'. Blah! I don't want a pc to look like that! My laptop has a smaller
footprint than that thing, and there are even smaller pc's than mine!

Of course, they are marketing, so... I'll cut them some slack.

You must be dreaming, Cory. Bob's computer was zero footprint. Nothing can
be less than zero.
* Chris wonders what footprint classification a computer the size of his
Twiddler2 would fall under.

Judging by his attrocious grammar, I wouldn't take the dieoff.org guy too
seriously:
"A BTU of sunlight is fundamentally different than a BTU of fossil fuel."

Yikes!

The "we will live forever" guy has much better grammar:
