[EVDL] RIP: Bob Bruninga

2022-02-10 Thread Gail Donaldson Lucas via EV
I am so sorry to hear this. Bob was one of the most interesting, well
informed, creative and helpful contributors to the EVlist that I remember
from the twenty or so years I have been here. His Woodie Prius with the
beautiful built-in panels was fascinating, one of my all-time favorite EVs.
I hope his website with all of his great work will remain online forever.

He was also the PI on three ISS experiments which helped refine the design of
radio satellites. He did all kinds of interesting things.

Jack, so sorry to hear it, but thank you for letting us know the sad news.
It's not unexpected but still a great loss for the world, for amateur radio,
for alternative energy, for EVs, and for just general smart, sensible,
frugal hacking (in the good definition of the word). Bob was one of the
good guys.

I've created a memorial page for him in the EVDL Library's history section.
I hope no one minds.

EVDL,

With a sad heart, I'd like to share the American Radio Relay League's obituary
of Bob Bruninga who passed away on February 7th:
http://www.arrl.org/news/view/aprs-developer-bob-bruninga-wb4apr-sk

I originally became familiar with Bob via amateur radio, so I was pleased to
find him involved in the electric vehicle community as well. He has given us so
much, let's keep his memory alive on the road and on the air.

Best,
Jack
