Jeff,

Had a couple of very polite private replies about this, which shame me.
Of course, you're right. It does seem that others have Evo problems that
I don't have.

Just to explain, especially on other lists I find myself fighting like a
trooper to gather line ends up for others when I quote their emails. I
thought that Lance was another one who wanted me to go on with this;
seems I was gravely mistaken. Aparently there are legitimate Evo
complaints that I haven't experienced.

Best,

Tony

I think Lance just wanted to be able to set the width/height of his
composer window, not the line-wrap width.

Hmmm ... perhaps a little abrupt.

There are many who use other tools than Ximian Evolution for writing and
reading email. Some of those work on 80 character Terminals.

Yes, they still do, in this day and age. Such tools might be called
Pine, Mutt, Elm, mail, name it.

People who use a default line length of more than 76 characters are not
liked by the above fraternity. I myself use Evolution and hate all
b*gg*rs that use longer line lengths, since I was taught to book-read
that which my eye could assimilate in one pass. Witness the bloom of the
tabloid newspaper, caters for the illiterate scum, like me.

Ximian: Do not encourage the use of line lengths greater than 76
characters. If you do, let it - as, for example Mozilla does - be up to
the individual to administer his own poison and mark himself out as
being antisocial. Warn him about it first, with the above reasons.

**NO**

Someone tell this guy how to breathe pure air, instead of 99% nitrogen,
0,5 oxygen (rest is carbon monoxide, argon, xenon, krypton, helium etc.
etc.)

At the moment, this is probably best accomplished by configuring your
window manager. But this has been brought up before, so maybe we'll add
some code to remember window sizes.

[Evolution] Setting size of mail composition window

2002-08-28 Thread Lance A. Brown

Is there some way to set the size of the new mail composition window?
I'm using 1.0.8.99, updating from red-carpet whenever a new snap comes
out, and would like to have the new mail windows sized so they are wide
enough to accomodate a full line of text.

Thanks,
