I had a problem like this a few weeks ago. Also with a mailinglist. But
if I remember well it was the Ximian mailinglist. When I changed the
filter to filter on to address containing @ximian.com, everything worked
fine again.

The strange thing is that I have more filters on mailinglists, and with
those I do not have this problem.

2002-08-02 Thread Mertens Bram

Hi,

The problem is getting worse, it seems that all messages that do not
match a filter are being delivered to my swriter folder (actually it's
local folders>Bram>linux>openoffice.org>swriter)

I first believed the filter for the swriter folder was to blame but now
I noticed that messages that match filters further down the list do get
delivered to the correct folders.

If anybody is interested in seeing the filter-file I'd be happy to mail
it, just drop me a note at [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Is anybody else experiencing problems with this?

TIA,

No. Note that the type here is "string" and not "regex". The normal
"Subject contains"-type rules do not use regex. If you want to use
regex, you need to use the Header Regex filter rule.

mind sending me the rule that moves messages into that folder and also
sending me the message?

That's because it applied the important flag to the message in the
original folder; not the message that got moved.

sounds like they are working fine to me :-)

in the development cvs version, yes. You can add a column to the
message-list that shows the source folder for a message.

Hi,

Your post to my other thread (filter feature request) got me thinking:
one of the rules in the swriter filter is

[sw-users]

could it be that Evo sees the [sw-users] as an (invalid) regex that's
causing this problem?

Thanks,

The filters that apply a color don't have a stop processing, they're at
the top of the list, the message is moved to the correct folder by a
later filter. That way I can color-code messages from "@sun.com" and
use another filter to determine wheter it belongs to the swriter, the
calc or the general folder... does that help?

Hmm, that's the devel-tree isn't it? When will that be implemented in a
stable release? :))

Thanks!

I suspect this has something to do with needing a "Stop processing"
rule, but it's difficult to say.

This is possible in 1.1.x; you can add a column to the message list
called Original Location. (You can add a column by right-clicking on the
headers of the message list).

[Evolution] The lost message (weird filter behaviour)

2002-08-02 Thread Mertens Bram

Hi,

This morning I received a message from a professor at my university,
neither the sender nor the subject matched any filter so it was supposed
to be delivered to my INBOX.

However it was delivered to the folder where I keep the messages from
the OpenOffice.org swriter mailing list.

I checked and double checked the filter I use to put messages in that
folder (it's quite complicated because I move messages from the general
mailing list there as well), I even checked the xml file but I can't
find the reason why it would have been moved to that folder!

Luckiliy I have a vfolder set up to catch all messaged sent directly to
me (as opposed to some mailing list) so I was able to mark the message
as unread and find it.

I then edited the rule that moves all messages from my professors to the
"Prof UA" folder, this filter is above the previously mentioned filter,
and chose "apply filters". The message was moved to the correct folder
BUT it wasn't marked 'important' until I pressed "apply filters" again!

So I have two problems:
1) some filters are acting strange (btw I'm no longer having problems
with the "apply color" filter

2) Is it possible to see to which folder a message belongs when you're
reading it in a vfolder? If not I think that would be a nice feature! :)

Suggestions and comments are welcome!

TIA, Bram
